i would have thought it was weird, but wouldn't get too worked up about it. maybe he thought that you guys were close and that it was ok....

It was extremely rude, and completely inappropriate. It's akin to looking through someone's underwear drawer at a party, even if the drawer was wide open.

I am actually going to go so far as to say you need to talk with your brother about it, as maybe he is aware of issues about his BIL that you may need to know (can you find out what he actually did on the computer? what sites did he visit, or files opened, etc?). Your sister-in-law's brother may just be clueless about appropriate behavior, or he may have an addiction of some sort.

IMO, this is big time over-reacting. You haven't mentioned what he did on your PC, but I can only assume it wasn't anything bad (you would have mentioned what it was if it was something truly awful - porn, personal documents, etc).

From my perspective, he probably went upstairs and used a computer for a little research on something that came up in conversation, or to check mapquest for directions home - something harmless.

People get so damn caught up in 'this is my property, no touching, no looking', it's a really un-flattering and honestly, immature way to be. Yes, it was also immature for your brother in law in law (or whatever) to just use it without asking, but it's more of a minor annoyance than something to get worked up about.

Everyone just needs to relax and take things a little less seriously. You aren't protecting the world's deepest and darkest secrets on your personal vista box.

Def not trying to be rude, just my $.02

I can definitely see your point, and it is very possible that he asked the OP's brother in advance, and just not the OP... but I guess without knowing what he did/more details we cant come to any conclusions.

Did he find the porn folder? It is wrong for him to go on it. But if you had something you did not want people to see it is your fault for not locking it.
