Mine also *just* got denied on a Galaxy S3. I am out of contract (or at least was until I bought a 6 Plus), and am fully paid and up to date.

Not sure why they're denying my request. The last device I unlocked was an iPhone 4 back in 2012. I haven't made any other requests, either.

President signs cell phone unlocking bill into law
Obama signs a bill into law that makes unlocking a cell phone legal again, making it easier for some consumers to take their phones with them when they change wireless operators.

saw the top first then read this.......
These requirements aren't going away as part of this bill either. Wireless operators are only required to unlock devices that a customer fully owns. In other words, if you are still under contract with your carrier and you bought a device at a subsidized price, your wireless operator doesn't have to unlock your phone. In many instances, the carrier won't.

ATT denied my unlock request. Yes, I have waited the two years and am eligible for an unlock.

I can't call ATT as I'm out to sea.

are you good? if you need anything let me know

still trying to sort out mine

me too, my last was in 2012

the only thing the new law does i guess is that ATT can't limit the amount of unlocked phones one requests if owned, i would think.....

this is a huge problem, i'm pretty mad, i asked them to put in request the day before my contract ended and they refused to do so telling me to contact them on the date my contact expired - contacted on date and was told it had to be after the last day, then when i was finally "allowed" to unlock MY iPhones, it was refused! so annoying, then i read this article that wasted my time as what obama did was essentially nothing, ugh!!

If you are out to sea, this implies that you are active military.

Get hold of ATT and explicitly tell them that. IIRC, they have policies in place to unlock phones for active military who are on duty.

BL.

he could be doing other things too, like cargo + shipping + oil

i guess we can ask him, unless he has top secret classification! :)

Mine got denied.

this is crazy

Mine got denied.

1) Are you out of contract for your device?

2) Have you exhausted 5 unlocks in 2014?

3) Are you current with your AT&T Account?

This link has all the requirements: https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/

If you do not fulfill the requirements you will get denied. In my case, I am actually eligible for the unlock but the system is denying me. So I escalated it and they promptly unlocked my phone.

I just signed a new agreement and I'm caught in the 14 day waiting period for the unlock on the old device.

My initial AT&T request, still waiting on the ebay unlock (hopefully). Sorry for the lack of clarification.

I wouldn't bother paying any $$$ if you can simply wait 14 days. If you're unlocking to sell it, it's actually better to wait 8-9 weeks after the unveiling of the iPhone 6 before selling it to give it time for the asking prices to creep back up.

Update: I chatted with ATT with a super cool rep and he submitted the unlock request. As soon as I closed the dialogue box, I received an e-mail stating that my unlock request was approved. 24 hours after, I attempted the unlock with success.

iPhone 5 is on its was to Denmark to my sister.:apple:
