Everyday I go to two sites, 9to5mac.com and this one. Everyday MacRumors reposts everything that 9to5mac posts, only slightly later. I was told by a buddy of mine who had recently left Apple a couple years ago that after ThinkSecret was sued that a barrage of fake "apple insider" websites would emerge and get their information straight from the source. Now I have nothing against this, because I love the content, love the community, etc., but I find it hard to believe that MacRumors can't find a single article that isn't on 9to5mac.com (which has a horrible community model of censorship, which further makes me believe that they're a controlled website).

What gives?

Aren't all articles on the web rewritten elsewhere?
I think I'm missing something

I think a chronological copy from start to finish is a bit much. CNN and Foxnews report on the same events, but there is a unique slant to their approaches, and they don't report one article after another in the exact same order every day of the week. I find that I come to MacRumors for the community only, because by the time I've visited 9to5 I've already seen the front page of nearly every single Mac site. Sad.

Funny that this was posted just hours after we posted an original story about new ultra-thin 15-inch notebooks. ;)

The fact is that yes, there are a lot of Apple "rumor sites" around and most of them are generally posting the same stories...there's only so much to go around. But while most of the big stories get reported at most of the sites, there is some uniqueness in story selection and even in takes on the same story, so I certainly wouldn't say that all sites repost the same things in the same order. That's simply not true.

Rumors get broken by a lot of different sites, and some are more reliable than others. No one site as a monopoly on rumors (accurate or not), and a significant part of the value of aggregators/rewriters is collecting them in one place and filtering.

Well, I think you guys should take credit for your breaking stories with a prefix like "FIRST:" or "EXCLUSIVE:" :)

Ron Burgundy: Let's go to Brian Fantana who's live on the scene with a Channel 4 News exclusive. Brian?
Brian Fantana: Panda Watch. The mood is tense; I have been on some serious, serious reports but nothing quite like this. I uh... Ching... King is inside right now. I tried to get an interview with him, but they said no, you can't do that he's a live bear, he will literally rip your face off.
[to the Panda]
Brian Fantana: Hey, you're making me look stupid. Get out here, Panda Jerk!
Ron Burgundy: Great story. Compelling, and rich.

:D
