Am I scammed by ebay buyer

I think it is the same (I/O board) but "somehow" cleaned. The corrosion outline on the Magsafe connector has the same outline. The question is how professional thee cleaning was, with parts inside, or disassembled, with clean isopropylalcohol, maintaining static electricity precaution, etc. ?
only cleaning, doesn't repair parts itself

Hey Daud, Where are you going with situation? It probably does not matter what we think about the damage inside the computer, if you never get it back from the buyer which now he does not have to send it back because you did not pay for the shipping label.

I have been scammed on eBay. I bought a set of spark plugs from a seller in China, well-job. The plugs turned out to be counterfeit. They looked real when I got them, but months latter when I checked them out in a comparison with genuine Denso plugs at an auto store, it was obvious they were fakes.

I contacted the seller, and of course - no response. I contacted eBay and PayPal, and they both said I took to long to file a claim. eBay even admitted they were aware of the issue with this seller and they said they rescinded his ability to sell spark plugs, but in recent checks, I see he's selling plugs again.

I will never buy or sell on eBay again and I have shredded my PayPal credit card.

In my ebay Resolution Center:
Awaiting buyer's action.
We asked the buyer to return the item to you for a refund.
When the tracking details show that the item is delivered, we’ll refund the buyer. As a result, we'll either debit your PayPal account or charge your reimbursement payment method.

I will try to message or call Ebay pointing out that not identical item can be sent back. It seems that I can either "report the buyer" but the outcome is not shared with me, or call ebay now that I am back in the USA.

What if you call the police and have them investigate this possible fraud?

So I called ebay and pointed out that the buyer is abusing the return policy as they are not able to return identical item as the photos show. Albeit verbally they agreed, they want to wait until 11th whether the buyer will ship it, me inspect it and call them back: "it can still be appealed in your favor"

That’s good. Make sure the serial numbers match what you sent and please keep us updated!

Replying to Kiki,

You said it's impossible for component level board repairs to be $150 and that its a cheap china board? Lol the whole point of component level board repairs is to NOT have to replace the entire logic board which is costly and just replace the failed components to make the costs cheaper.

Repairing water damaged boards do not come back with problems. The only problems that comes back after component level repairs is when you perform Reflows on GPU issues.

I know how is working component board level repair. We are speaking of prices in US, not China or other 3rd world country. If you want proper and good quality logic board repair I'm pretty sure price will be around $250-300 + TAX. Not every board can be repaired this way, that's depends of damage. I wouldn't trust somebody from China to sent laptop for any repair. Also I bought on the past few logic boards from China (MacBooks/PC Laptops) and all of them turned out to to be faulty, so I in my experience I cannot recommend for anyone to buy logic board from China. Almost all logic boards are produced in China but this doesn't mean they have access to them. Usually factories are very strict in this procedure.

We are just curious What Happened? Any success? @Daud

Yes, full success (for now?). I appealed after inspecting the computer and finding a missing charger, a dried spill on the keyboard in the direction of the USB, which possibly was the the entry point for the fluid. I took video of the unpacking in one shot and pointed right away to the spill and USB opening with some dried fluid, and uploaded it to Vimeo. I pointed to the detailed pictures on the auction showing a clean computer.
I based the appeal on the the return condition violation and also attached the photos we analyzed here.
Good news - we reviewed your case again, and we refunded $ 734.90 to your original payment method.
Just allow up to 48 hours to receive the refund.
We granted your appeal because of issues that happened with the return. This case will not affect your seller performance, and any feedback left for this transaction will be removed.

I have not heard from the buyer and maybe Ebay took the loss and has not charged him either?

Great to hear!

I have had a couple of similar situations in the past and found that with good documentation and speaking with eBay on the phone things usually end up dealt with fairly.
