Sorry, should have added more context. The quote I quoted was a response to what features LTE versus non-LTE has. You are correct that is only on stainless steel and ceramic cases.Only on stainless steel and ceramic.

You don’t need to activate the cellular. You don’t need to pay or buy a plan for it. What you will get it more features in the casing and also the ability to dial 999/911 etc
Or does 999 not work in the uk on an inactivated watch? I thought I read any device capable of phoning must be able to dial 999/911 even without a plan.
I have not even noticed my red dot, nor has anyone else.
I know in the US, they have to be able to make the 911 call, it's the law. I don't know about European laws though.
The red dot? I really don't like it.
It's not the only reason, clearly. I don't feel strongly that I need cellular, and I'm not ecstatic about the monthly cost (EE essentially lied to me and convinced me to go for a more expensive data plan saying I could share it with a watch, but that isn't the case) but I'm going to be upgrading from my S0 to a S4 on release and part of me says I should go for the fully capable version. I just wish it didn't have the dot, which I find really distracting on the design.
I agree with you and passed on the current generation watch. I'm not sure this was the only reason I didn't buy this time around, but it contributed.
The red dot was also a very un-Apple-like element, in that it's the type of thing Jony Ive has complained about in the past (i.e., swooshy design on old PC cases to denote speed). My guess is that this was driven by marketing and that the designers will win out with the next iteration.

I agree something like this would have been nicer, but Apple would have never let it fly given that the logo would not always be upright - from a design and esthetics point of view.If they had to put something on there to differentiate the LTE models, I think having a white Apple logo would have been nice.

I see the soles of my feet more often than the crown of my watch. The red dot? I really don't like it.
I see the crown of mine every time I look at it unless I tilt my arm away or look at it completely dead on. Not that the dot is really an issue as it can be covered anyway but I would notice it.I see the soles of my feet more often than the crown of my watch.
