No issues here! Love my MBP (Base Model 13" tb). My only gripe is that mine does get a bit warm from time to time (not hot). I got Apple Protection after reading about issues that other users were having just in case.

My 2018 13" touch bar model has been perfect too, no keyboard issues, loving it. It's a fabulous, powerful ultraportable.

I previously owned a 2016 then 2017 13" model and suffered repeat key failures, it was almost a weekly event unclogging the keyboard and I had to have to replaced at one point.

There are people who have had no problems, the fact is that forums work by people coming here asking for help or complaining about problems. Simply put, people don't visit/post to forums just to say they don't have problems - at least not in the numbers that people with problems do. That skews the perspective. for instance, while we don't know what the actual percentage of issues with the keyboard. It appears larger then it may be on a discussion forum.

It's not hard to find articles by research firms showing that Mac laptop sales are doing better than most if not all vendors, and their market share as a percentage is growing slightly, not shrinking. I have posted links on this before here.

This is a great place to come to learn, and to see what the problems could be if you buy something. But clearly reading these forums would make you think you have no chance of avoiding a MacBook Pro with display, heat, keyboard and crashing problems. I have a 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro and both have been perfect- not even a crash, and I check for it.

Don't get me wrong- this and forums like it do a great service. There have clearly been some important issues that Apple has or should be addressing. But the market at large is thrilled with the MacBook Pro.

No issues either, am enjoying it. One aspect not a lot of people talk about is the Touch ID - it’s really fast and handy!

No problems with my wife's 2017 or my 2017 MBP 13’. Over a year of usage. Wife uses hers every day for hours for her PhD studies.

You're not alone. The latest Consumer Reports survey of laptop owners in Winter 2018 (36,919 surveyed):

I have a 2016 nTB MBP that has had zero issues even though I’ve used it nearly every day for the past 2.5 years. It’s actually been way more reliable than the 2012 rMBP it replaced. I’ve had people tell me that my machine will 100% develop flexgate, keyboard failures, or heat caused problems, but I’m still waiting for any if this to happen.

Had my ‘16 that experienced every problem there is even the flexgate just a month ago, but I have ‘18 now and can’t complain. Other than some lag every once in a while for a second it has been great to me (been a month now).

Lesson learned from my ‘16 though is to get Apple Care +

No issues with my 2018 MacBook so far, and no issues with the previous mid 2015 model I owned either.

Bought my 2018 15” MBP in December 2018 (i9/1 TB storage/32 GB RAM/Vega 20) and she’s been flawless — no problems at all! I will say, though, that I have her set up on a stand so that I am using peripherals with her (external BT Magic Keyboard and external Magic Mouse II), serving as a desktop replacement more-or-less. I rarely need to use the actual built-in keyboard, I have not experienced any problems with the keyboard when I have used it. Feels just fine to me! I don’t use the TouchBar or fingerprint ID, no need to do so. For me this machine has been just great, does what I need and speedily, no issues here!

No problems with my MacBook Pro 2018. I too like the Touch ID, but if they add Face ID to the Mac, wow...I just LOVE that on my iPad and iPhone.

So far so good for me. I have no issues with the keyboard and really don't care about the travel. I used a number of different types of keyboards and never ever preferred any over any other. I am pretty keyboard agnostic.

Have had mine since December and no real issues. Just the keyboard sucks.

Had the internal SSD die on my 12" Macbook. Just replaced it with the 2018 13" MBP, way too soon to say anything bad about this machine, a week of use and it seems solid. Having had a couple butterfly keyboards though I will comment on that. I never had a single issue with the keyboard on my 12". That being said, I felt compelled to get Applecare this time after my last experience.

As an aside the feel of the current butterfly is much better than in 2016, and in fact I prefer it to the magic touch I use at my office.

I just switched from an Acer to the Macbook Pro 15" 2018, and I hope that I would have the same trouble free experience that you guys have. The 3 year warranty thanks to Apple Care do help in that regards.

Ah... Acer. Such fond memories... Not.
