Yeah - I'm going to 'upgrade' from a 16gb 5S to a 32gb 5S because I don't want a bigger phone. Really hope Apple releases a 4 inch 6C that's decent.

You're not alone. Bigger isn't always Better. Got a iPhone 6+ for my mum and tried it first. Works great when watching videos, but way too big to hold in hands. What's the point of buying an iPad then? And it looks ridiculous if you have tiny hands.

I don't think there is a point to having both a 6+ and an iPad. Although if I do get stuck with no other options when I have to upgrade my current phone I might get the plus size and treat it like an iPad. And you never know, it might actually be nice to have a break from your phone occasionally because it is too big to cary around.
There are plenty of people who prefer smaller phones. They just are not as vocal about it. I have a Z1 compact, and while I could have purchased any phone I wanted, I got an iPhone 5S just four weeks ago. The negligible benefit that a bigger screen offers doesn't even come close to outweighing comfortable one handed use and easy pocket fit, for me.

I also miss a smaller iPhone I hope there will be some kind of iPhone 6S Mini (4 inch display). The iPhone 6 is a HUGE phone.. specs are great.. battery also but that screen size is just to much for me.. Looking forward for September Keynote..
me too, I dream of an iphone 7 the size of a 3G/4 not even the size of a 5. For the time being I am switching to an old 4S , all these 6 are way too big for me. If you look in the shop you can see a lot of android phone with the 3.5 screen, a lot of people don't want a mini tablet , but just a phone.

Yes, I believe you are right. There was a poll on this forum not so long ago, and the results showed that of the people who frequented this forum and took the time to vote, more than 50% preferred the 6+, most of the rest preferred a 6, and less than 10% wanted a 4" iPhone 6 if it were offered.
Clearly not 50% of the public purchased a 6+ over a 6.
There is nothing more beautiful (in electronics) than holding my iPhone 4S.
I said it before, I like big screens, but that iPhone 4S is the most beautiful thing, of perfect size. Now, if they could leave the same size of the phone and make screen bigger, while bezels thinner, it would be awesome!

That might be the way to go! I also loved my 4s. Don´t think I care so much about speed more about size. Not sure If I can use it with Watch but I know on Monday. Brand new not cheap but beautiful! Like my wife ;-)
The first mobile phones were only phones. When all they could do was make calls, there was no advantage to having them be large, and many advantages to having them be compact. Now that mobile phones are essentially pocket computers there are obvious advantages to providing a larger interface. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the masses to start demanding 3.5-4" phones again.
Personally I love my 6, would never go back to my 5 as it feels like a toy now. But each to their own. I think Apple should release an updated 5C or something along those lines as it would appeal to a lot of people.
I too find the extra screen size on the 6 useful for things like reading and browsing the web.
If I use my phone mostly for texting and phone calls, then I would prefer a 4" phone in the shape of the 6. It would feel awesome in my hand.

I have a 4s. I like the size of the 5s. I've used a couple of 6's and they just feel too big to me. I lead an active lifestyle and don't carry a purse. Women's pockets tend to be smaller than men's. I'm also an avid biker and the 4s doesn't fit in any of my under seat bags but it does fit ok in most pockets, usually horizontal. The 6 won't.
I'm really not ready to upgrade but I may be forced to get a 5s if the phones keep getting bigger. Which kind of sucks as I'll be upgrading to old technology.

personally, the best iphone i can currently imagine would be 4-4.3" and 1080p. i feel like the shape/finish of the 6 would be much easier to grip case-less if it had a smaller footprint. and a super-sharp screen of that size would be plenty for my needs.
by all means keep making large phones for those that love them. but for me i'm much more impressed by mobile tech in its most compact form factor, and would love to retain that option.
