The first phones were big, then people wanted them small. Now people want them bigger. So in a few years they will be small again.

They want the screens big. They want the phones lighter and thinner than ever.

There's never been a trend to people wanting smaller screens on TVs, phones, computers or movie theatres. They accept them as a price of affordability or portability. In the old days a 25-inch TV (with a 4:3 aspect ratio) took up as much space in your living room as a comfy armchair. Now it sits easily on a counter or shelf.

Only way phones are getting smaller again is when they figure out a way for them to project a ten-inch holographic screen that feels solid out of a one-inch wide holoprojector.

I agree!

My 5 was dying from a miserable battery problem, so I got the 6, and haven't ever adjusted to the size...it is just too big for my hand. And for my a$$...I never noticed the 5 in my back pocket, but the 6 is a pain.

My wife has a 5C and it is the perfect size. Plus, I have an ipad mini that I use for reading books, the web and emails....I don't need a giant phone.

So when the upgrades come in the Fall, if a 4-inch option isn't available, I'm selling this turkey and getting a 5s, which I'll hold onto until they finally bring back a 5-sized phone.

C'mon Apple, Jobs kinda knew what he was talking about, ya know?

Hmm, I don't think it is a good comparison. TV and movies theater and (desktop) computer are not the sort of thing you have to carry with you. Mobile phones on the other hand has a trade off between size and portability. The question is where everyone's comfort zone is. No one is going to carry a phone the size of a 50" TV, so it's silly to say that people are always wanting a larger screen because if that's the case we eventually end up with 50" mobile phones.

I am starting to believe 4.7- 5-inch displays is in the awkward range of being a little too big for one-handed/pockets/exercise while a little too small for going the required TWO-HANDED use that phablets need.

I think Apple should do what Asus did last year with the Zenfone 4, 5, and 6. Go S/M/L or Small, Medium, and Large. Keep more people happy with the different screen range. The more options, the better. Like going ti a clothing store. Imagine going to a mall or shoe store and there is only two different sizes of that shirt or shoe you want but it neither fits you? 4 inches for small, 5 inches for medium, and 6 inches for large is the right spectrum for each.

I actually believe Apple will do it but probably not until next year or 2018. The smaller 4-inch iPhone will end up having the weakest specs though. The largest iPhone will be pricier but be fully-loaded.

The size of iPhone 5s is the best...

Rumor is that Apple will be discontinuing the 5S in the Fall; so if I were you; I wait till August and jump on and buy one! Otherwise; you probably have to go used marketplace after September rolls around!

IMO, the space gray 5s was the most beautiful iPhone Apple ever produced. While I do enjoy a larger screen on my 6 the actual build and design are bland and boring. I'm considering looking for a 5s to go back to. I don't sit and watch a ton of videos on my 6 so I don't care as much about the screen real estate.
