Love the design, it looks and feels amazing. I'll be upgrading from my iPhone 4 to this new one. Though I think they could of upped the screen size a bit and kept the phone the same size, I'm still happy with a 3.5 inch.

I am with you on the screen size. I am happy with Apple's decision to keep the same look, but they could do that while increasing the screen size a bit. :)

^^^^^^^^^ I've had my iPhone since the day it was released and it doesn't look like that. maybe you should take better care of it. my wife has the 1st iPhone with broken screen and works just fine. I've had plenty other touch screens that have broke and they are a paper weight after that. apple builds exceptional quality phones(products). if you want a cheap ass plastic phone then go buy one.

I personally do not need a "thinner" phone I like something to hold onto for my arthritic hands. My upgrade is due out in November but I may wait to see what is rumored in the next iPhone due out next year (I assume), if it's just a redesign of the casing with a few minor hardware upgrades then I'll probably get the 4s. Don't need a bigger screen if I want to watch a movie then I'll watch it on my tv or computer, this screen is just fine the way it is. I am thoroughly intrigued though by the Siri software and that may be the reason I upgrade now.
My wife dropped her phone and cracked the screen pretty good, I just took it to the local Apple Store and they replaced on the spot no questions asked, made me a loyal customer.

Funny how Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide product marketing at Apple, said that the Iphone 4s is the thinnest smart phone out there. He has never seen the Samsung Galaxy S2 before.

I personally love the iPhone 4/4S design, and I feel that a bigger screen would be too bulky to carry around in my pocket all the time. A phone should be portable, and when I look at those huge monster Android phones, it makes my pockets cringe. Anyone with me?

Nope, I like that the screen stayed the same size and I like the iPhone 4 design.

Pity my upgrade is not up til the next one is out (actually I just checked and it will be up February. Soon enough that I might be tempted into the 4s but late enough that I'll feel I should wait and see what the next iPhone is first. Worse is that I won't know if they are introducing it June or October... if I knew which one it would be much easier to decide. If it was October, be very tempting to say ***** it and get the 4S cause I would love that faster processor. On the other hand I want more storage and I don't think I can justify 400 dollars so it may be worth it to wait and see what the next one is and if storage gets cheaper on it).

----------

I love the current design and I'm glad they kept it.

The ONLY thing I wanted, and I've said this on here before, is a faster processor to get rid of the choppiness. They've done it. Perfection!

Fully agreed on everything here. Actually, for me the two things I've wanted in the iphone 4 was a faster processor (cause I do think the phone is a bit laggy) and more storage space. They addressed both (Though one of those is expensive if I want to get it).

But yeah, I've been saying I don't even know what Apple could add to the iphone 4 to make it any better besides the standard upgrade of storage and a faster processor (which I do think it needs). They met that, gave it a better camera (I like the one on the 4 but I certainly won't complain about improving it), gave it better battery (supposedly), hopefully gave it more RAM (have to wait on fixit to find that out), and gave it a nifty feature (that if I had I may or may not use but it would be fun to play with for a little at least).

So yeah, I think it's a decent upgrade. No, nothing surprising but I like the form of the 4 and I like the screen size so I'm happy both stayed (Though that may not help me as I'm not on this upgrade cycle. I really hope that that teardrop design isn't going to be what the next iPhone is. That will have me considering the 4S depending on what else they give the next iPhone).

I bet all of you guys' opinions would be completely different if they had released a bigger screen today.

Hell no. I was hoping it would stay the same. In fact I've been saying if they do change the screen size of the next iPhone I will consider maybe just upgrading to the 4S (I'm on the cycle for the next upgrade really). Especially if they don't give it a faster processor (after all that screen size will need more processing speed). That and putting in 4G connection would have me consider going to the 4S instead (basically cause I don't want to lose my unlimited and 3G is fast enough for me. 4G isn't really important to me especially not to force me on a limited plan).

Cheers to another release cycle of:

Well then take care of your phone :p. I'm a clutz. I have yet to do that to my phone (and trust me, it has been dropped a few times). But, I also make sure to put my phone in a case (especially since State Farm no longer will insure it). And honestly, I just use one of those cheapie 20 dollar clear silicone cases. They seem to protect it fine enough. Plus they give my phone a pretty blue color :).

The only thing I'm concerned about is the drop of "standby" time from 300 hours to 200 hours. Hopefully in practice the battery is no worse than my 3gs.

Shattered-iPhone-4-Back-Glass-Pane.jpg

Not sure I understand what you are complaining about...

You break the back glass? Take it to Apple and get a brand new one back for $29...

If you had a plastic or aluminum back? The back would be scratched/dented to hell and there is nothing you could do to replace it.

As long as I can cheaply replace the glass back then I like it much better than plastic or aluminum :)

Hi

I like the iPhone 4 design (much more after I stopped using the bumper) and a larger screen is really no benefit to me as I never play games or watch movies on it.

I would of liked Apple to taper the back and make it thiner or more like the first gen handset, but its fine as it is. At lease I don't need to buy new docks this time.

I pretty much like the iPhone 4 design (I own iPhone 3GS), but the standby battery life makes me think twice before ordering the new 4S... :(

Yup... gonna have to wait for Anandtechs review to see how the battery life does on the 4s before I really commit :(

Plus if the Nexus Prime has a 2000mAh battery as rumored well then...

Nothing wrong for loving the IPhone 4s, but be aware, you can't be bragging that you have the latest, fastest, most innovative phone on the market as you did with the previous releases. iPhone 4s can be compared to most one year old android phones.

I'm with you , bro. I actually like the 4S.

Those who work with facts know its a myth that a larger screen equals an unwieldy phone. It's a few millimeters difference between the two.

Those who fear that minuscule difference have much greater underlying fear of change.

I speak from first hand experience with the following sizes: 3.5, 4.0, 4.3, 4.5".

The sweet spot is 4.3" which returns a perfect 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

Depending on the model these are lighter, the same, or less than just 5% heavier than iPhone 4.

Not only you, I love the design. Glad they kept it.

IDK why everyone complains about the glass back. I've dropped mine heaps of times with just a bumper, onto cement and haven't broken anything. Not even a SCRATCH on the phone. I guess I've been lucky. In saying that though, any phones screen can break, and with the low replacement cost of the back, it's not a huge issue.

I wouldn't have minded a larger screen, unless it meant an uncomfortably large slab, like carrying a small iPad in your pocket.

I like the iPhone 4 design, I'll be thrilled with a brand new iPhone 4S, soon. The internal changes are the important ones.

So nice. Although I was one of the people hoping for something that looked different I'm kinda glad they didn't. Reason is I LOVE the IP4 design, and since I never had the chance to own one I'm so happy I will own an even better phone with that sleek design!

I can't wait to see videos (or experience it for MYSELF when I get one :D) of the speed. It's going to blow my mind lol.

Absolutely! All the iPhone 4 accessories will work!

Uhhhh no it isn't, the sweet spot is 3.5".

(See what I did there?)

Anyway, I would have been all for a slight increase in screen size, especially if it could be done without increasing the size of the device. Alas, it wasn't to be. Yeh it would have been nice to have a new design as well, but IMO this is still the nicest looking and best made phone on the market.

And about the back, I might put one of these on. :apple:

edit: link didn't work, it was just a replacement aluminium looking back.
