I don't think the increase is such a big deal.

Firstly, the width barely increases at all.

The height does increase, but the phone is thinner and lighter so shifting it to move your thumb up should be much easier than the 4s or even 5s.

The more I actually consider my iphone usage, the more I am starting to lean toward the 5.5", which at first I thought was utterly ridiculously large.

I think its best to wait and try the phones at an iphone store.

Also in my country apple offer 2 weeks return 100% refund no questions asked. So if you don't like it, you can just take it back.

You won't even notice it after a week. I had the Note II as my device for a few weeks and switching back to the iPhone was the difficult part. I felt like I was squinting the whole time. The adjustment really isn't THAT big for anyone to be worried about it.

I no I was only # with the Steve comment! If u can't see ur phone buy glasses, it would b easy that carrying a iPad in ur pocket!

I am completely satisfied with the current 4" size of the iPhone (I have a 5S) and really do not want a bigger iPhone. Ever. I love the pocketable size and the fact that I can easily single-handedly fully functionaly operate iPhone.

However, with that being said, I do wish to see a bigger iPhone for 3 reasons:

(1) some people just need a bigger screen, I understand that, such as older people or those with bad eyesight

(2) to stop the whiners from whining about it incessantly for the past however many years

and (3) to put those Android users to the test with those saying they'd convert back to iPhone if they had a bigger screen.

Do you think that maybe your exaggerating?

You complaining about something people have been doing for years as if this is something new. Even the 5.5 at a 16:9 aspect is small compared to an iPad Mini. The 4.7" vs the full size iPad isn't even comparable.

Just looking at that diagram just makes me want the 5.5 iPhone 6 even more

Really not wanting the iphone to b bigger my thumb just reaches the top when I'm holding it now! The phones not far of the same size as the iPad min! Steve would never of aload this!

No. You aren't the only person. Count me as another. I thought the iPhone 4/4S was the perfect size.

However, considering how well the iPhone 5/5S has sold, we seem to be in a very small minority.

Most people want these larger phones as demonstrated by their popularity. So Apple is going to oblidge them. Can't blame Apple for giving people what they want.

To be honest, I'm thinking of just getting a flip phone and then an iPad w/ cellular and an iPod Touch. I'll carry the flip phone and then either the iPad or the iPod Touch depending on the situation.

(Edit: My current financial situation precludes me from purchasing an iPad or an iPod Touch. This is just wishful thinking on my part.)

You can get a prepaid flip phone for as little as $20. Lose or break it and you aren't out a whole lot of coin.

You're not the only one but hey: I'm glad I'm going to save around 700 bucks. ;)

You're not alone. I like that I can use my iPhone 5 with one or both hands and that it fits in most of my pockets, although it's a bit tall. Unfortunately pockets in womens pants are shallow and tight around the hip. Womens fashion has not adjusted to these larger phones. I also like that it doesn't weigh my purse down a ton. A bigger phone will be heavier.

I'm also not inclined to upgrade when my 5 is still in good condition and I might be able to save my parents some money each month. Unfortunately Verizon isn't very up front and whether there's a discount or not.

What about the impact the smaller screen has on your eyes? I'm in my early 40s, last weekend I spent a couple of hours surfing on my 4s and I actually got a migraine from squinting too much. I then switched to my son's iPad and it was a huge relief on my eyes. There's probably no empirical evidence but surely many years of looking at a 3.5/4 inch screen can't bee good on your eyes, especially if you're in your 40s.

I think so.
That's why I'm ready to move to a larger display.
With iOS is possible to adjust font size, but if you increase the font you have less content available on screen before you need to scroll and that's annoying.

5s will still be available :)
But probably only in 16GB.

I think they should offer it in a larger capacity if they intend to offer people a smaller size.

Lol I had a dream about the keynote. There was no 128GB iPhone but it did come in 3 sizes. 4, 4.7 and 5.5 inches and they were available in 16, 32 and 64 GB variants.

We have handbags so we don't have to worry about it fitting in our pockets;)

I worry about how easy/comfortable it is to hold in one or two hands as I have small hands.

I think that there are benefits to having a smaller device. I've used galaxy notes for the past 2.5 years. When I've used smaller devices in between I've really appreciated the ease of holding it comfortably as the note can feel a bit unwieldy at times.

I think you of adjust to what sized device you have at the time though. However it think that 4.7-5.1 inches is probably the best overall as it's still pretty comfortable to hold and you do get that extra real estate.

Why?

They will offer it in at least 32 gb (middle size storage) like they've done for every iPhone before it. Like the 5C is available in 16 and 32.

The 5C is a new thing. I'm my country the previous iPhone has only been available in 16GB after the new model comes out.

You aren't the only one, I recently switched to android and got one with a 4.3" screen and that is fine, but I wouldn't be able to use a bigger one with one hand. So if Apple only goes with 4.7" plus I won't even be considering switching back in the future.
I would consider that I have small hands. Still I'm capable to use my HTC One M8 with one hand 90% of the time. And it's quite big 5" phone. I'm quite confident that most people here who claim that they aren't capable to use bigger phone with one hand just aren't used to it yet. Honestly... I will never go back to anything smaller than 4,7".

Yea I do adjust font size after everything starts to seem blurry but you're right, it just means constant scrolling.
