Hey guys, I just got my iPhoneX after breaking my beloved iphone6+ after many years together.

After much consideration, I decided to go with the lifeproof fré to protect my new toy. So far, the case has been wonderful. I like the colors offered, the protection it gives, and the bumpers that guard the volume buttons from the dreaded accidental push.

The one complaint I have about the case is the gap between the built in screen protector and the actual phone screen. Normally, this wouldn’t bother me too much, but the gap gives the screen a BlackBerry Storm feel (NOT a good thing).

I have the feeling that a glass screen protector would fill the void and bring the iPhone feel back to my new phone. The gap seems to be much thinner then the glass screen protector I had on my 6+, but I don’t know of a way to measure a closed space like that.

Does anyone use this case on their X? Do you have the same gap between the plastic of the case and the actual screen? If so, have you done anything to remedy the gap?

I ordered these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DLZWX7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tbMDAbJ9CZMJ9) screen protectors from amazon because they advertise as the worlds thinnest in the description.

I’ll update Tuesday after I install the glass and have a day to use the phone to get the feel.

That prob will help. The o my negative I have experienced with doing that is when the lifeproof built in screen touches the screen protector it creates a rainbow effect that usually can only be seen when the screen is off. I ended up using a anti glare film under my life proof on my iPhone 7plus to eliminate all those issues. Hopefully you have better luck than I did!

The screen protector is ordered. I’ll have it tomorrow.

The rainbow doesn’t really bother me because it can only be seen with the phone off, but maybe something against the plastic will help with that also.

Update: screen protector seems to have exacerbated the gap between the Lifeproof Fré’s built in protector and the now covered in tempered glass, iPhone X screen.

I’ll probably keep it like it is. I like the idea of extra coverage when a $1000 phone is concerned given I’m prone to smashing screens on hard floors at work.

Take pictures of your case! :D

Check out this little nugget I found at Marshall’s yesterday. Penguin by Munsingwear. Pretty sure this is the best case I’ve found for $8.

Oh I really like that. Reminds me of the incipio edge chrome. Does it have good grip?

Yup it has really good grip. The 2 different textures in the back helps I think. The top part feels kind of like the Seidio cases that have a soft matte texture. Makes it easy to grip. It’s a great case especially for the price. 8 bucks is crazy.

Wish I had a Marshall’s near me to pick one up.. if only they sold them online. Did they have different colors?

It was actually the only one I found but let me correct myself, it was actually at a Ross not Marshall’s where I found it. I confuse them because my wife and I usually go to those 2 stores and they are side by side, I look at their tech gear while she shops for clothes. I think they get stock from Macy’s, Dillard’s, and other major department stores so maybe check those out too.

I am a total case fanatic and even order the bizarre stuff from Alibaba. I have some of the newfangled holographic cases on the way. My latest case is however the more conservative (for me) Apple spicy orange:

Even though I'm not much into orange as a colour, I really like that one. I'll get one of those for spring, for sure.

I have a phone case drawer in my desk. 22 cases in there. That’s a collection from iPhone 7 Plus to the 8 Plus.

This reminds me a lot of myself. I've been rummaging around my stuff and found some foofpod sleeves that date back to my iPhone 4 days :D

I would get it now if you still want it. I don’t know about where you are, but in the US the orange and flash cases are “currently unavailable” in the apple store, which makes me think there are new spring colors coming soon.

I've always loved cases and usually end up with more than I need for each particular phone. I've often favored the higher end cases such as Tumi or the Apple leather cases. I recently purchased a iPhone X and decided to spoil it with a Vaja case after seeing a thread with a pic of one on here. There look pretty nice but expensive. I currently have my X in a Saddle Brown Apple leather case.

So the Vaja wasn’t good?
