Really? That’s good to know. I want to try one out but when I touch the ones at walmart they are slippery. Wondering if there are certain ones or if most are grippy.

I'm wondering this as well. I tried the clear dualpro and it would have been perfect if it weren't so darn slick! I wonder if that black has a matte texture that's a little more grippy.

Right, and also I’ve noticed that for some reason the incipio cases always have mix reviews on them online so I’m not sure if I want to make the plunge or not.

I tried both the clear and the smoke dualpro, just couldn't live with how darn slick they are...if someone confirms that the black one has a matte finish I may roll the dice again!

Also tried the incipio octane lux, a nice case overall but but I like using 3D screen protectors and the lip comes in too far around the front edge. Probably wouldn't be an issue with a 2.5 screen protector but a had a few other nits I didn't like so that's going back too.

Got 2 Caudabe cases coming, a lucid clear obsidian and a Synthesis stealth black for more protection. Also have an evutec AERGO ballistic nylon coming (Red) for the heck of it.

I hate being back in the case lottery...in my experience with past iphones it takes a good 6 months for the 'perfect' design to come out anyway. Hopefully one of these is livable so I can stop buying cases until that perfect one for me comes out.

Let us know how the lucid clear caudabe is. It’s hard for me to find anything to beat the silicone case right now, but I would like to have another option just so I can switch back and forth with, but so far haven’t found anything yet. Either that or I just buy another silicone in a different color. Lol

Will do.

I ordered the obsidian lucid clear in the hopes that black finish is textured. They probably shouldn't have put 'clear' in the product name if they were planning to put out solid finishes but it is what it is! :)

Yeah I was looking through their site this morning. It seems like people have said the newer finishes have a better grip than the clear one which I wanted, but since it’s slippery I might go for the colored finishes if it’s got a nice texture.,

So the Vaja wasn’t good?

Right now I'm a little p.o.'ed. Case has still not shown up even though USPS said it was supposed to be delivered on Tues 2/13. Says "delayed". The last time I saw that message the package never showed up so my feeling is that it is lost in the mail. I sent customer service a message that if I don't receive it by tomorrow that I want a refund issued or resend my order but not by USPS since I already paid for 3 day shipping over a week ago.

This case tends to have really good reviews on Best Buy.. anyone have one and is it worth the $40? Gotta be comparable to the silicone case if I’m gonna pay that same amount for a case that isn’t grippy or isn’t up to par in quality.

I have the black and while it is far more durable than the silicone case, it’s wider, probe to finger prints, and as with all tech 21 cases, the bottom lip by the lightening port is a floppy piece of plastic.

Ah thanks for the response. Do you think it’s worth $40? I like the white one and the concept of it, but if that’s the case, I’m not sure.

I would get it now if you still want it. I don’t know about where you are, but in the US the orange and flash cases are “currently unavailable” in the apple store, which makes me think there are new spring colors coming soon.
Indeed, you were right. On the Apple Store online it's "sold out"... guess I'll wait for the new spring colours then... or look around in 3rd party shops :)

So I received 3 new cases to try out this weekend. The incipio reprieve sport and two from caudabe, a lucid clear obsidian black and synthesis stealth.

My initial favorite was the incipio reprieve. I got the clear with blue accents on the bumper and it looks gorgeous on the silver iPhone X. It has good front lip protection, feels great in the hand and is still minimal while offering excellent overal drop protection (12 feet).

The problem? The clear TPU on the bumper started to yelllow severely after one day of use. If you want to roll this one get the smoke & you may not have that issue.

Next up is the lucid clear obsidian. The black finish is matte and has texture that offers decent grip. Problem with this one is I can’t see how it will offer any protection whatsoever outside of scratch protection. Zero screen protection, wire thin frame around the cutouts. Get this one only if you like the looks and aren’t concerned about drop protection.

The winner of this group is the synthesis. Provides good all around protection while still being very thin, matte texture gives decent grip. A slight protruding edge for screen protection and small feet at the corners or the back to keep the back and camera off the surface while lying flat. The black is just translucent enough to get a subtle hint of the Apple an iPhone logos on the back. Sharp, minimalist, classy.

Is it perfect? Not quite. The one area that gives me concern is the camera cutout on the back. The edge is almost flush with the camera, and the sloped side to the inside of the phone offers no protection. If you dropped it and a pebble was anywhere near the camera lense it would be a goner!

Gonna drive the synthesis for a while though until something better comes along. Solid 8 of 10 IMO.

Nice, let us know how you like the cases. I’m thinking about grabbing a spigen liquid crystal but don’t like how clear cases have to discolor over time.

Well, LP ain’t too bad. I hate what it does to screen. Definitely tolerable. I don’t understand how for years LP has made waterproof cases and can’t get screen just perfect like Dog & Bone or etc. Had to pull off iCarez as LP was too tight with it, which I expected.

That Telephant case, it’s super nice. Feels like a actual rubber case, decent screen down, excellent buttons and general fitment. For the price point it is EVERYTHING the RhinoShield Crashguard and Mod SHOULDVE been for the money. I’m just glad it’s missing the “hard and slick” plastic of RhinoShield/Crashguard. If anyone is into bumpers I couldn’t recommend Telephant deal I link to a few posts above more.
