I'm now 65 years old and I have two grand daughters, WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Text messaging and e-mails are the way that I stay in touch with them.:)

I find it interesting that on a cellphone, minimal functionality must include at least phone calls and texting.. I haven't really got much of an opinion about texting, I just don't really use it. Do you guys?

For most of my communication, I prefer texting. I can send and read on my schedule, not yours. When the phone rings I need to stop what I'm doing and answer it. If a text message comes in I can answer it on my schedule.

If I need an immediate response I'll call, but most of the time I don't.

I use texting in situations where the message is short, I want to get it to the other person quickly, and they may be in a place where answering a phone call would be difficult.

Typing on a phone sucks. Maybe if there was a good QWERTY one.

No to client-server voice recognition.

I'm in the middle group. On average I probably send two to three texts a day, sometimes a few more if I get into a conversation.. But really at that point it's usually easier just to make the phone call.

I find texts are best suited for bite-sized stuff where instant receipt / response isn't so important. Trying to do much more with them than that tends to end up taking longer than making the phone call

Ah! At least there is some sort of typing involved...:D

Yeah I was worried there too for a moment  It's okay pulse, slow down now..

I text my wife everyday. The guys I share an office with don't want to here me telling her I love her and stuff like that. Having said that I call her every lunchtime as well. I also text my daughter and my mates. As others have said its not always convienent to take a call, but you can respond to a text when you like.

Yes, but not nearly as much as I used to when I had a flip-phone and pretty much the only thing you could do on them was text (I didn't call back then because I was too poor :()

I text way more than I call people. Probably 8-9 texts per call ratio.

Really, texting is worth embracing. Saves a lot of time to communicate simple things.

I text at least a few times a day. Much more now since I got a smart phone.

I thought it would be hard, but even on a touch screen typing is actually quite easy IMO. While you don't physical keys, I somehow know where the keys are at with pretty good accuracy. In fact I'm doing it right now lol. I do wish keyboards had arrow keys' would come in handy when you to move the cursor instead of having to select it with your thumb and carefully move it. I'm sure there are third party keyboards for that.

To each his/her own.

I usually use e-mail. Even that's meant to be dated now but it's still my preferred method of communication.

That said, as soon as the mobile apps for Cryptocat come out I'll probably start using that more often.
