clearly as the USER, I was not the one/ones who complained about the apple logo light. so no, I don't think I was kidding myself.
heck, if you like it, by all means, countless others don't particularly adore those annoying light-up logos anyway
Then I'd say whoever complained about it wasn't very bright if they couldn't realize the light from the screen was far brighter than a lousy translucent apple logo
If I shine a torch at my face while hiding behind a piece of metal, that is going to be a lot less light reaching the other occupants of the room than if I shine the torch in their face.

You're basically saying that shining the screen at your face is going to be a lot less light than shining the screen at the other person's face, no crap. You're equating the little dulled Apple logo of 5 square inches behind a translucent cover with the entirety of the screen through transparent glass. Not even comparable; that was a really unintelligent statement.
