Am I the only one who thinks that doesnt make sense to launch Iphone 7S and Iphone 8 together?

From what I've been reading it appears from all the rumors Apple is having a very hard time acquiring enough AMOLED screens for their next product launches. If this is true then they might have to release two different screen models to supply future demand.

Money and supply reasons. OLED supposedly is in short supply. But they can also go up to a new premium tier. Although I'm excited about OLED, I doubt the general public gives a crap especially since it's been on samsung phones a while. Apple will have to knock it out on design instead. Heck, I'd take a 7S plus with OLED, higher resolution, and be perfectly happy. I don't care about a new design that may actually be worse in performance..hiding cameras, questionable touch ID, etc.
I have another theory. IMO I think Apple will launch two phones. The first will be the 7S, the smaller phone with an A11 SOC with same bezels and LCD screen as the 7. It might have wireless charging and a higher rated waterproofing. Then I think they're gonna go all out on the phablet version. I think they'll release an AMOLED plus version with minimal bezels, with a higher pixel density screen. I think it will be in the 7 Plus form factor dimensions with a 6.2-6.5 inch screen realestate. Basically a Galaxy S8 Plus killer.
Highly doubt option 2 will have four iPhone models release in different sizes/variants.
Option 1 is very possible due to OLED yields.
I still think Apple will retain the 4.7/5.5 inch LED models and the OLED will have the 5.8.
Apple needs to sell phones. They have to make it up somewhere, if the oled variant is in short supply.
I can't see Apple releasing an iPhone 8 that they can't sell in a large quantity.
Samsung has no problems to deliver the s8, people are seen with it plus it's affordable and available. The iPhone 7s is not enough to be seen as an innovative company. Thats horrible PR. Samsung can deliver what Apple isn't able to.
If Apple can't deliver the iPhone 8 until 2018 Apple is going to compete with the Samsung s9. And we don't know what Samsung has in the pipeline. The s9 could bring a revolutionary camera or other features. While Apple is still working on their design change Samsung can work on the other features. If the iPhone 8 is really delayed that much, Apple is about one year behind!

Do not think they will be launched at the same time.
The 8 will be delayed well after the 7S and 7S+ are introduced.

Apple bought 70,000,000 OLed screens from Samsung. The only hold up is the sensor.
Which hopefully Apple can have the sensor issue rectified by production, which is slated to start earlier this year in June.
I am thinking iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus. As much as we may not want to admit it, I don't think Apple wants to come out with a phone that doesn't match the numerical designation of the S8 (although it's not the 8th phone). From a marketing perspective, this would be the better move. After that, I am expecting similar features in both, with touch ID under the screen, wireless charging, bezel-less design. If Apple can pull this off, it will be very well received.
I agree. I think the line up will be
iPhone 8/edition iPhone 8/edition+ (A11)
iPhone 7/7+ remain (A10)
iPhone SE (A9)
And the 6S will be discontined.
Considering iPhone 7 was just a speed bumped 6 with no audio jack.... I think we'll jump straight to 8 and 8Plus.

And we continue to wait. Last year it was a speed bumped 6 with no audio jack. Nothing interesting. No reason to go through hassle of upgrading/replacing.
Waiting to see about this year.
Compared to the 6, the 7 has
-3D touch (even improved one from the 6s)
-dual speakers with much better audio
-brighter screen
-wider colour gamut screen, same as the ipad pros
-better battery life thanks to a bigger battery and the A10 fusion
-low light camera
-4K video
-stronger aluminum
-water resistant
-faster more reliable Touch ID
But i guess its just a speed bump if it isnt a total redesign.

Yup! Since its still all rumors: I say normal cycle continues... 7s/7s+.
Yea, that's cool... but everything you listed are meh incremental updates. Many of which aren't even that interesting or useful. 1 tiny useless speaker to 2 tiny useless speakers... lol. Nothing that make one want to go through the hassle of upgrading. It's just massively inconvenient+$$$ for minor incremental stuff.
vs.
5 -> 6 had improved security so I could use a 10+ alphanumeric passcode with the easy of TouchID. Contactless secure payment. New Larger LCD.
All 3 things added up to substantial features on top of many other incremental improvements.
6s, 7. nothing but incremental improvements. But the thing is, I can't imagine what else I would like to be in my smartphone. Maybe that's for Apple to figure out and sell to me
