Different generations, though? These aren't siblings - kissing cousins, yes. Same iPhone "family"

I suspect because of price and features people may not thing important or wanted like glass back - it won't be for everyone so Apple needs a "new" phone for people whose phone are 2 years old, etc who want to replace old phones. I think I might be one of those. So I think there will be a 7s (no matter what called) and a more deluxe version (8)

I agree. I think the line up will be

iPhone 8/edition iPhone 8/edition+ (A11)

iPhone 7/7+ remain (A10)

iPhone SE (A9)

And the 6S will be discontined.

Agreed. The SE will be continuing to be the lower price Iphone . 6S will be removed . But , I still think that there is a possibility of a SE refresh early next year with an A11 processor . If Apple wont release another SE, I think the SE will problably be the last 4 inch iphone .

I don't see Apple releasing 2 entirely different numbered iPhones in the same cycle, so I'm a lot more inclined to see the normal iPhone 7s release with a new "Editiom" model of the iPhone

This new "Edition" will be the Iphone 7S Plus ...

Apple always launches more than one phone.

My two predictions:

1.) I think Apple will retain the 4.7 LED model for sure, perhaps they could abandon the 5.5 LED and have it replaced by the 5.8 OLED.

Or

2.) I agree with you and believe Apple will release three models, a 4.7/5.5 LED and the 5.8 OLED.

I could be wrong they only launched one phone every launch for quite some time. But the past few years lead me to believe no way the will launch just one.

They'll release the 7S and 7S Plus and they will also release the iPhone, yes just iPhone.

The release will be kind of when they released the 15" rMPB, it will be kind of a preview of what's to come.

It will be very expensive and very limited.

I think this is unlikely. Samsung will bring out the s9 by the time and Apple can't compete in any way with the 7s while the 8 is not revolutionary enough then to justify the high price and the limited stock.

They will sell the 8 as their main iPhone and the 7 (s) as an entry version. Maybe the shipping times will be 6-8 weeks but thats the worst case I think.

I completely agree with you, it's a big mistake, I would rather prefere to buy the new Iphone 8 than get an update of the Iphone 7, I am sure lots of people think the same! Nonsense !

Yea, that's cool... but everything you listed are meh incremental updates. Many of which aren't even that interesting or useful. 1 tiny useless speaker to 2 tiny useless speakers... lol. Nothing that make one want to go through the hassle of upgrading. It's just massively inconvenient+$$$ for minor incremental stuff.

vs.
5 -> 6 had improved security so I could use a 10+ alphanumeric passcode with the easy of TouchID. Contactless secure payment. New Larger LCD.
All 3 things added up to substantial features on top of many other incremental improvements.

6s, 7. nothing but incremental improvements. But the thing is, I can't imagine what else I would like to be in my smartphone. Maybe that's for Apple to figure out and sell to me
I think the 6s or the 7 had better improvements and features than the introduction of the 6. The only phone I've ever regretted purchasing is the iPhone 6.

Right now I plan to skip the 8 since I bought the 7+ last year. And the 6 2 years before that. And the 5 2 years before that. And the 4 2 years before that. And the 3G 2 years before that. See the pattern? :)

Unless my sister holds off on upgrading her 5c long enough and the OLED phone is something I decide I can't wait a year...

Nope, I agree. That's why I don't think they will! I'd say they're going to do just one type this year... call it whatever.
