Yeah the 17 inch is a bit odd looking compared to the other two sizes and I agree with some of the reasons given for that. But it's still on my shopping list next update.

Am I the only person that thinks the 17" looks funny?

That was my reaction too. Niether of those women are very attractive in my opinion.

once you open it up it looks like there is so much wasted room.
the 13" and 15" seem proportionate to me.
the really should put a number pad or something in there to take up some room.
the giant speaker grills look weird to me.
but i just like everything to be small and compact.

I have always loved the fact the 17" had a huge display, however I think the size of the 15" is perfect - 13" feels cramped and with a 17" I feel like I'm lugging around a picture frame. Now that the 15" has that 1680x1050 display, I think I'll be happy.
Yeah, but have you heard how good the sound is coming from those larger, wider set speakers (and probably slightly larger woofer too)? No other laptop has a better out of box sound field than the 17" MBP.

are the speakers on the 17 actually different from the 15? the guy in the apple store told me they weren't. what a dick.
I have the 17 inch (it's the only Macbook Pro I've ever owned) and I think it's the best looking computer ever! I do agree with the previous posters regarding lack of number pad with all this wasted space. That's my only gripe about this computer. Otherwise, sexy sexy sexy!

And though natalie portman and kiera knightly (spspspsp) aren't the best, they still look great. First a macbook pro looks funny, then Portman and knightley (spspsp)?

Never in a million years. Your hands would be off the centre of the computer, then the trackpad would have to move and it would look like crap. Sorry, but it will never happen, get an external keyboard.

Since we are on the topic of woman, what is the big deal with Meagan Fox? I mean, she has a nice face, but the greasy hair and weird thumbs really turn me off.
When you compare the two in sound, it's a no brainer. If you look at the tear down of the 17" (not a unibody, can't find good image of speakers in unibody 17") it has a pair of speakers on either side. That's right...there are 4 speakers in the 17" (couldn't find the woofer in the tear downs. The 15" in pictures on this page show it only has a single speaker on the left (and obviously another on the right).
Twice the speakers definitely explains the difference.
odd or not, apple made the first 17" notebook. still, i saw one of them at the apple store and I have to say i do see that they just aren't built with the same perfection. something is off...

I do have to say the 17" DOES look a bit awkward for me, its very unporportional. The photos, of course, would look balanced. But, just the size, and yea, they key pads look very odd on it. It doesn't look like it's the right design, I feel it's too plain. The speakers as well, is just WAY too wide!
As for the 13", I also think it looks a bit off - theres too much black bezel showing. I also think there should've been more height to the 13"
But regardless, Apple has the best looking computers out there, by FAR!

17" is the best macbook pro available. Huge screen, express card slot, true full HD resolution, a form factor unheard of in a 17" laptop. If anything looks awkward its the 13" which is too large to be an ultraportable but too small to really have decent power, and lets not forget that huge bezel... as for the 15" I feel it looks very boring and mainstream. I refuse to buy a laptop without a full hd screen, its 2010, these screens were available years ago on windows laptops. I can't imagine dropping almost 2000 on a 15" and getting a 1440x 900 screen, its madness. And the fact that you have to pay extra for still inferior 1680x 1050 is a joke at this point in the game.
