Should give him a Nokia and say, this is iphone 4G but cheaper...

No, I do not think you are too young. Why do I think that? Well, I'm 13 too. I also waited in line for the iPhone 3G for 7 houres. I paid every penny for the device and I pay every penny for the bills (excluding voice, which is on a family plan.) Enjoy!

Nope you aren't too young. I had a cellphone at the age of 12, and iPhone at 14. I'm now 15 and have an iPhone 3G. Do I care what other people think? No. I paid 100% for both iPhones and my "allowance" is the monthly service. If they give you crap, it is solely based on jealousy and immaturity.

There are no restrictions as to what age you need to be to own an iPhone. Last I checked, there was a Parental Controls section on the iPhone. Unless nosy wives need to keep their husbands in check, I do believe this feature was aimed for the younger crowd.

No your not to young i bought my origianl iphone myself as i did with my macs and im only 12!!! who cares if your to young, seriously

If you feel the need to ask the question if you're too young and to end the post with "posting from my iPhone" as if to brag and to try and dispute everybody's thoughtson the subject when you asked, shows that maybe you are not mature enough. I don't think age maters but more so maturity. You also said that you bought it with you're birthday money, well who gave you that money? Your relatives did and unless you made the money yourself, you can't really say you bought it yourself. But whatever.

The most important thing that you should consider is the economy.
Currently, the economy is in turmoil. Banks are closing. People are loosing jobs. Kids these days should realize that if your parents loose their job, then the thing that you really need is money to support your college tuition, or even just your groceries. You are certainly entitled to own any device you choose as long as your parents have the money to pay for it, but if you find that your parent's are having financial difficulty, why make your parents pay an extra $30/per month for internet on your phone along side your home internet (which i assumed you have for $20 - $50/per month).

Kids, I know the device is advanced, high-tech, cool, and (insert positive adjective here), but you must consider the bigger picture and be more open minded. Now owning this device will not kill you. If Apple never introduced the iPhone, you wouldn't die. You would just go on with your life (which is very short) and use whatever is most convenient for you.

As a former teenager, I know that the latest and greatest is very important to "show off" to your friends and others, but is it necessary to fork over the large sum of money at the young age you are?

This is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to jump on board now. I don't want to be saddled with a 3-year contract (minimum length in Canada) and a phone bill twice what I currently pay, should anything bad happen to my income. The flipside to that perspective is that if demand drops as a result of the economy, prices may drop or there may be more aggressive promotions, and I don't want to be locked into paying high prices now.

Off topic, but you have much more patience than I to have posted that from your iphone!

If you aren't legally able to enter the contract; then yes, by definition you are too young.

And also ... lots of lying kids in this thread. Playing the markets at 12, eh? I'm sure dad had nothing to do with that...

Is that an issue? My dad wants me to follow in his footsteps in the stock market, therefore he has assisted me in investing my money in various places.

Sad that "adults" on here are immature enough to have a 9 page criticize fest on a young teenager.

He has the phone. He literally, physically already has it. Why is he even on this forum "asking" this question of us?

He's trying to stir the pot - simple as that. Who's the immature one?

Dare or iPhone?

I'm fourteen and I have a deal with my grandparents that if I loose twenty pounds (I'm a size medium btw so hold out on the fat jokes please) I can get any phone I want. I wanted to know which phone is better for a fourteen year old. I have done my research and I know a lot about cell phones. Can I please have some opinions that are not biased? Please keep in mind that I am fourteen and like easy accses to social networking site and instant messangers. Dare or iPhone? Help please?

Don't hijack a thread. Of course the iPhone is much better than the dare, the UI of the Dare isn't as responsive as the iPhone's nor is its touch screen as accurate (it's not multitouch)
