I don't know, part of the joy of reading a new book it's the feel of the cover, pages, etc.

All you people who talk about how great it is to feel the cover, pages, etc., you obviously have never had to tote around War and Peace or Gravity's Rainbow for a couple months on a train or bus. Sure, I love books and have nearly 2000 at home in my library. But I'd like an e-version of them too because sometimes it's an absolute pain in the ass to carry them around.

Slow reader? ;) :p
I guess they can get bulky… but a nice fat book gets all squidgy and soft anyway the more you read it… tactile. :D

When you have seven month old twin boys and no more time to read than the 40 to 60 minutes of commute time every day ... yeah ... I think it would take some time to read a 1400 page novel. And try holding the 6 pound Against The Day in hardback on a bus when you can't get a seat. It's much nicer holding the 10 oz. Kindle and advancing the pages with a button.

This is what annoys me about comments like "everyone likes the feel of books, everyone likes to turn the page ..." Isn't it more than a little arrogant to explain the motives or plumb the preferences of the billions of other people on this planet, creating a blanket answer for all? Tactile feel maybe be nice, but there are other issues at play for me and I'm sure for some others.

Slow down a bit! It was a joke! Yikes! I wasn't really implying you were slow. Humourless maybe.:confused:

e-books

Without question. Why not have both? Soon, hopefully, the concept of the e-book will develop to the extent that with every hard copy sold, an e-book version can be purchased for an additional charge of $1.95. There'll be no need to choose between one form and another.

Yep, that's the way I'd like to buy, give me both. That was my number one suggestion to Amazon ... I hope they listen to their Kindle early adopters. Apple has the right idea with DVD/Blu-Ray purchases with an electronic version attached.
