I hope to God it doesn't end up being Denver. We already have bad traffic during rush hour and housing shortages causing rents to skyrocket. Local news man did a Twitter poll. Let it be someone else's problem.

OP you should add a poll to the thread

To be fair 60 people isn’t a representative sample.
Obviously.
[doublepost=1516309948][/doublepost]I don't know if anyone who wants Amazon to come here. One bedroom rents already average $1300 because of the housing shortage. I can just unsung what this would do the and housing costs. Not to mention traffic which is already bad.

Frankly, I think Amazon is shopping around for a sweetheart package of special tax and rule exemptions. By releasing a list of candidate cities, what they are really doing is putting those cities on notice to bid against each other for the lowest tax and regulatory burden.

There is a LOT of that going around lately.

It'll likely be North Virginia or Maryland. The area is ripe for corporate buildup.

Austin or Dallas, but I hate the idea of how much traffic that will make here.
When I worked in Austin a couple years ago, the traffic wasn't as bad as what people seem to make it out to be. I lived in Round Rock and commuted in daily and could get there in roughly 30 minutes. Sure, it could obviously be worse now, but I think you'll find anyone who lives anywhere say their traffic is the worst.

Now, with Amazon moving in, yes, your traffic will be terrible. Godspeed.

Our infrastructure is terrible. Austin won't be able to handle the traffic
I've been to Austin dozens of times and traffic is light compared to the nightmare commute in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. You raise a valid point about potential traffic congestion. The highways in Austin are puny compared to the freeways around Houston.
Still the high skill labor pool in Austin would be a huge draw and the cost of living ain't Bay Area raping your wallet since 1849 high.

P.S. Congrats on whoever gets this. Sorry about your soon-to-be traffic. It is an absolute nightmare here in Seattle where their headquarters are.

I thought Seattle had great public transportation. Everyone still needs to drive to work?

Not sure if this is sarcasm but I'll assume not. Not everyone rides public transportation. Shocking, I know. Always seemed dirty tbh.

Not sarcastic. Just assumed thats a benefit of living in NYC/Chicago/Seattle, not having to deal with driving, traffic and parking

Boston is one of the 20 finalists but its proposed location is somewhat difficult. The land plot cross the boundary between East Boston and Revere, and is not in the central part of city. There is a subway that is about 1/2 mile away but the traffic during rush how to get there is horrible right now, never mind if Amazon were to build there. Route 1A, is along side there as a well, but that like the road to the subways is gridlocked during rush hour.

A someone who lives close by, I'm not seeing a lot of positives for the state, other then showing its creating jobs. I'm sure they're giving away everything to entice Amazon. That is us taxpayers would need to foot the bill at improving the infrastructure and other services

I'm going to say Columbus. They just got an Amazon data center a year or two ago.

More like 3-4. But I don’t think that a data center really matters much. They have value regardless of an hQ2. Actually an interesting thing to know (and I’ll try and find the link) but with the exception of Miami I think all of the serious contenders are on network mode points.
