Wow, this is going to sell like hot cakes if they don’t touch the price.

I’m really tempted to go with the M4 Pro and upgraded RAM, but the M4 Prob itself will probably be binned and will need extra cash to get the full 14 CPU + 20 GPU cure chip. And that’s going to be expensive.

Do you think if it a good upgrade from Mac Studio M1 MAX Based with 64GB to M4 Pro Mac mini in 32GB? I don't think I need a lot of ram as mainly use photoshop, figma and other design tool. Occasionally (like once a year) may use for video editing.
I suppose it would depend on your workflow, but my undereducated guess is that going from M1 Max 64 GB to M4 Pro 32 GB would be a waste of money.

In some ways it’d be an incremental upgrade, but in other ways it’d be a significant downgrade.

I guess this better be tomorrow morning's announcement lol. Apple's not going to like this.

Looks almost exactly like I thought it would, bit taller than an Apple TV, aluminum, more Studio like, no surprises except maybe the top RAM
I didn’t really expect it to look like anything the MR design showed. The USBC ports looked way too small which meant they were still basing off a Mac Studio rather than a true AppleTV sized Mac mini.

Seems like a solid thing for most people. Facinating that they didn’t offer the same chip/options in an imac.
but the most absurd thing is of course that we might have a situation where they are selling mac studio with m2 max for more than a m4pro that will most likely crush it in everything except games (well, not a big issue on macs anyway)
I would instabuy a m4ultra studio maxed out if it was available. And an upgraded 6k display.
Maybe apple will update the studio line as well but only with max chips? Ultra level only for mac pro?

But... Looking at what we can see from the listed M4 Pro specs... I'm cautiously optimistic that it won't be (as) neutered compared to the anemic M3 Pro, and that MAYBE we can get >16GB of ram standard 🙏
The M3 Pro is anemic? Seriously?

That is about as accurate as saying it has 16GB RAM as standard.

Up to 14 cores. I hope it means Apple fixes the mistake with gutting out M3 Pro and also giving an ick to people with OCD with the 5 perf core model, and yet another two e-cores to increase benchmark scores without much real-world benefits.

I very much doubt the M4 Pro will be 14 cores as standard, I’d say 12 with the option of 14. 6P6E with the upgrade to net you another 2P. It would be nice though…
I’m not saying standard; I’m saying top options for each. So, yeah, 6p6e standard sounds right.

Ugg. They might be thinking this way, but it is short sighted. The stuff your high end products can do have a big impact on people's choices to go Mac instead of PC. Being always behind on the high end suggests that the Mac platform has a limited future, and will frustrate buyers.
As someone with three Mac Studios now, if things don't improve I am just going back to PC. Apple's attitude with the desktop line and pro lineup since the 2013 trash can Mac Pro has been atrocious. I thought ditching Intel was the ENTIRE purpose to make sure things release on a regular schedule? I end up using my M3 Max more than my M2 Ultra for the GPU workflow, and its utterly frustrating I spent nearly $8,000 for my Mac Studio but only $3,600 for my laptop.

Thats fine and all but logic users cant just go pc, they trapped ppl into using macs with that takeover. A brilliant business move.

Very interesting, and very happy about 64gb RAM. However, I wonder how noisy it will be, considering the small and compact size, when doing prolonged demanding work - like working with larger projects in Logic Pro.
