Just updated this on my TV. It looks quite decent. But the section: "free with ads" - no thanks to that!
LOL! Geez, how the times have changed. Imagine growing up in the 1960s with only one local TV station and a whole bunch of AM radio stations that would fade in and out. We couldn't care less about commercials back then because we wanted to be entertained in an era long before smartphones, PCs, tablets, VCRs, DVD/Blu-Ray players, gaming consoles, etc. We were happy to sit and watch our tiny sub-20-inch B&W TV. If nothing was on, then we actually went outside and networked with people face to face. Few people really like commercials, but if the programming is free and decent to watch, and they don't arbitrarily interrupt the program mid-sentence like YouScrewed does, then its no big deal IMO. :)

I wish I were actually born earlier than I was. I'd have loved to see brand new tube stereos and enjoy commercials when they were one break per show (instead of one every 4 minutes!) and creative, enjoyable jingles existed.

I'd have loved to use tools made of metal and have made in USA quality. I'd have loved to have been able to walk into a Woolco and see what it was like, or see K-Mart in its heyday. I'd have loved to see the launch of malls and see them grow.

I'd have loved to experience Beatle-Mania. Or see Woodstock.

Best I can do today is buy a lot of that stuff used, restore it, and enjoy TV shows from the era in some pathetic attempt to relive an era I missed out on.

I like the update. It makes it easier to get to my stuff. I also like how if you move to a placeholder, it expands if you keep it active foe a couple of seconds.

By the way, I’m an older guy (66 this past Monday) and I’ve lived thru the tech progress. And while we did have 4 OTA local stations (sometimes more as my dad installed a rotating antenna on our roof - that was fun hunting for stations) we also had more than one commercial break during Shows. We also had a number of FM stations in our area. And if you were patient with the radio dial, at night you could pick up clear channel AM stations from various parts of the country that didn’t have to cut power at night.

We still got plenty of AM and decent ones at that, mostly playing older music. FM is full of crappy modern stuff with 3 minutes of song followed by 10 minutes of commercials, mainly commercials for drugs, fast food, and insurance much like with TV.

I grew up in the 80s. I remember two commercial breaks. One at the 15 minute mark, and another between shows. Even less during a movie or soap opera, and usually NONE for pre-empted sports on local broadcast.

Now you get commercial breaks every 3 minutes lasting for 10, and maybe 15 minutes of show at best. The end credits are cut off too, so if you like hearing that classic ending music to the Andy Griffith Show on TV Land, all you get is scrolling credits minimized with an ad for upcoming shows from TV Land during the ending.

I stand by me wishing I could live in the 1960s. Modern is full of homogenized crap that hasn't innovated since 2015, less brands now than there ever has been, and literally two mobile OSs now.

The new TvOS 16 seems to have killed Prime Video on my 4k ATV. Prime Video won't open but PV shows play if I double click them from the AppleTV next up list.

Anyone run into this?

I have not installed it yet but maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that fixes the app.

Yes, I tried the offload thing and that didn't do it. When I started to delete it the message was "if you delete PV you will lose the app from all ATVs under your name and lose all it's data". Then I got nervous. Isn't it like an app on the app store and when I re-download it all my saved stuff will be there? There's a lot of shows in there where I don't want to lose the data on the last episodes watched unless I have too.

I am not sure what you mean by "saved stuff". Are you speaking about downloaded shows? Or just shows that are in your playlist called My Stuff? The My Stuff shows and movies should come back when you reinstall the app after you log back in with your account information. With Amazon, everything is basically saved in your Amazon account online. You can log into your Amazon account on the web and go to Prime Video and see your watched history. So I am not sure what you would lose by deleting the app. Hope that makes some sense.

Yes, just the playlist and what episode is up next on the series' I've been watching. Someone on another thread figured it out though.. I just wasn't patient enough and had to wait longer on that blank screen. It eventually does load!!

Thanks for your feedback!!

When opening Prime, after 35 seconds,
A German error message pops up
(I live in USA)

15 seconds later, profile choices pop up,
Then everything works ok..

Weird …
