Amazon Prime Video Currently Unavailable in App Store Across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV [Update: It's Back]

That's nice -- I updated it on my iPhone and iPad this morning. Guess I better not run it.
I have iPadOS 13.1.2, recently updated. I have Amazon Prime Video (already installed from sometime during the iOS 11 or 12 era) and just ran it. Ran fine, no problems. Watched several episodes of The Twilight Zone. No problems.

No idea why it would be out of the App Store but the app itself works fine.

"Update: MacRumors has been informed this was a technical issue and the app should be back up shortly."

Put your tinfoil hats away, folks.
The most likely and simplest explanation is just not "fun" enough though.

New update.

Don't care. Would not use Amazon for anything. Its business practices are obscene, immoral and repugnant. Just my opinion of course...

Your response really did not address the issue, but gave Amazon a thorough trashing. Yes, and it is your opinion, but not mine.

If you have an Amazon video membership, Amazon knows your address already, knows when you request a video from amazons servers.

Yes but what other data might they be trying to gather on-device and per-device about user habits, apps installed and the like? Speculation on my part of course, but my guess is - everything they are possibly able to.

Or it could be nothing to do with it at all. Watching this subject with interest...

EDITED: note to self - read the whole thread before commenting. Good to see it’s apparently back up.

Amazon wasn't paying Apple 30% of sales like Spotify has to
The difference is that Amazon Prime doesn't sell you any membership or videos through their Prime app. You must already have a Prime account.

Spotify wants to entice iOS users to use Spotify and for that subscription Spotify has to pay Apple. If you get a Spotify membership via Spotify's web site or NY Times or through your carrier. You download the app, login and Spotify doesn't pay a penny.

Early Amazon apps were gaming this by telling iOS users to login via web, subscribe and then login to the app. Apple put a stop to it.

Honestly the iOS Prime app is a lot better than the Fire Stick where the majority of the displayed items are all up-sells to videos you need to purchase.

My Prime app crashed on my AppleTV a week back. And won’t load anymore.

Last night I deleted it finally and then tried to download again but just had a spinning wheel...

Hopefully I can make it load today.
(airplay from iPhone works fine).

I just tried to download to my son's iPad 2 and the app store says it is unavailable, although the iPad has the minimum iOS version required.

The version on my gen 5 iPad works fine, but can't download a version on iPad 2
