Amazon Prime video on a 2015 rMBP is not good in Safari - needs the awful Silverlight, really surprised the Bezos Team hasn't fixed this.

India is a large country with much of it underdeveloped so I am surprised that Amazon could offer two day shipping throughout the entire country.
I haven't tried Amazon, but used Flipkart lots of times, and it amazing how effective they can be. I guess it is not hard to find someone willing to use their little Hero Honda to deliver anything anywhere for a small penny. However if they occasionally fail, complaining can be well let's put it challenging at times.

Given the way Prime Video works (or, arguably, doesn't work) in the U.S. - I'd be more curious to know if Prime Video in places like India attempts to nickel and dime those customers by (as it does here) only including some subset of its videos in the subscription price.

We subscribe to Prime, but have never found the video offering useful for this reason - one those rare occasions when a show we want to watch is on that service, it always costs an additional fee.

Amazon Prime Video is a video service much like Netflix that offers unlimited access to the videos they offer. Like Netflix, this is not intended to be a comprehensive catalog of all video content that is produced in the world. They do offer a bunch of great exclusives like The Americans, Downton Abbey, as well as the HBO back catalog with shows like The Sopranos and The Wire, and their own original content.

There is a separate service they offer which gives customers the ability to rent or buy content such as new release movies. This separate service works almost identically to the iTunes Store.

You are getting angry that their search features work across both of these services. The reality is that a universal, unlimited movie/tv show streaming service, like the one you suggest Prime Video should be, would cost hundreds of dollars a month rather than $100/year. They are buying access to as much content as they can afford, given the low price of $100/year. When you add in the other benefits of Prime such as free shipping, the value is clear.

Please never let me look at the world like you do.

Apple TV by now has millions of users. Amazon's refusal to expand to Apple country really defies logic. Especially with the fact that they dropped selling Apple TV on their site which was making them a ton more profit than their firetv thingy. If they put an app on the APPLETV I would finally use Prime Video. Until then, i have not invested in Prime Video at all.

On Apple TV an Amazon user would have to go through a separate web page to buy Amazon content, which is extremely user unfriendly and non-intuitive.

It's bad enough on a tablet, but in the case of Apple TV, impossible to do without using a separate external device.

This is exactly why many of us choose Roku instead.

I don't have a problem with Netflix or Hulu. Amazon Video should work like either one. Sure buying the prime subscription requires you to go to a web page, but once purchased, there should be no issue in an app allowing me to view any show/movie available. In other words, I am not agreeing with your argument because there is precedence in this space that shows it's not impossible.

It is impossible to purchase content if you don't have an external device in the room with you.

And try explaining to my wife or my aged mother how to do that, even if they were adept with a browser (which they aren't).

WAIT> You think I'm talking about getting the Prime sub itself? No sir. Don't you understand? If you are browsing Amazon Video on an iOS device, and you decide you want to see an extra cost item, then you must go find a web browser, do the purchase, THEN come back to your Apple TV or iPad to see it.

Yes interesting if they cover the whole of India with 2 day shipping.

In the UK being such a small country we get _next_ day delivery plus:

• Prime Video
• Prime Music 1M+ tracks
• Unlimited photo storage (google offer free but 'data mine' photos)
• Early access to Lightning deals
• Some Free Kindle books

for £79.00
at todays rate $99.76
$99 in US

So for a change as good or better value than US in the UK

Also 'Prime Now' is available _same_ day https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prime-Now/b?ie=UTF8&node=6584642031 in about 8 major Cities and areas.

I would subscribe to it in the US. if they charged $7.50 (or even $15.00) / year here. India is a large country with much of it underdeveloped so I am surprised that Amazon could offer two day shipping throughout the entire country.

Amazon Prime doesn't actually mean 2 day shipping india. It's basically more of a free shipping offer for eligible items. Based on their item's location (warehouse) and your shipping address, you'll either get free next day shipping, two days shipping Or just plain free shipping. For 500 bucks (INR ie) a year, it was a great deal in itself. Never thought they'll bundle Prime Video with this. Thank you Jeff Bezos!
