Not trying to be an Amazon shill, but have to factor in cost of gas to get to the store any time you need a one-off item vs. paying the yearly premium for Prime.

Not saying the price increase doesn't suck, or is fully justified or anything, just from an individual perspective
That’s my big use for Prime. Spend four hours driving to a bunch of stores or fifteen minutes on a computer. For oddball items.

From an environmental standpoint. I figure one driver going house to house is better than those fifty plus people driving out to stores.

Just wondering what the weirdest thing you’ve ever purchased off Amazon is ? Here is mine , I got it on a cheap deal for Prime Day as well and gifted it to my MI’m for her birthday. She’s stopped answering my calls for some reason

A 20% increase is ok because we all get 20% pay rises each year don’t we? How bad is the world right now? Interest rates, cost of living, multi-billion dollar companies crying poor.
Why would a company ( set up to maximize profits) accept e real terms prize reduction when they can get away with stayinggat the same teal term orize orveven a prize boost?

Got some weird electronics part before we had Prime to make the free shipping cutoff. There's literally a site to find weird items closest to the exact price you need for free shipping. And you can't buy them solo; it has to make the order qualify for free shipping

Of course I can't talk about all Europe but what I get in my country as "Prime" is quite limited, essentially free delivery and Prime Video with a substandard catalog and poor subtitling (we don't dub). No Music, no Reading... you get the idea.
I will have to think this through, it's not really the money but almost a 50% increase that feels like a big FU.
Well, i:ve read elsewhere that this is Amasons first prize increase in 8 years so take the old prize and adust for 8 years inflation before calculating any prize increase ( be shore to include the rather inflated rate of inflation in the last 12 mounts). Now based on those new numbers does is still feel like a big FU. Al, that said weall feel the pinch now adays so I can well understand that nobody like this increase so maybe it would have been better if amazon just sneaked the increases past us as a lover annual rate that we just did not notice ( I ofc mean better in a pr sence, abouding sticker shocpck and the associated bad press the netbresult would be the same)

For the 1st time I've actually looked at my Prime usage. Orders have reduced dramatically now that the UK has basically completely opened up following Covid. The surprising thing though was the almost total lack of use of Prime Video. So fairly certain that I will not be renewing in May, not that Amazon will care

8 years ago there wasn't Prime in my country :D 5 years ago... well you get the idea.
I checked my Prime usage, so yeah, they have to got a few months to make it a little less underwhelming compared with other countries.

Why do they make you pay for their music and video service even if you don’t use them. Personally I dropped it. Makes me less likely to buy on a whim.

Having lived in the UK, France, and now Spain in the last 5 years, I have to say that while Amazon was great in the UK, it was only marginally ok in France, and basically pointless in Spain. I cancelled my prime in Spain. I'm not surprised Amazon wants to jack up their prices because I'm sure their revenues are tanking in Europe. It's just not worth it here.

I've received Amazon's email telling me the price is going up from 36,00€ to 49,90€, if my math isn't wrong it's a 38% increase, my subscription ends in January and I'm not going to renew it, because I don't buy on Amazon that often anymore - because saving money sounds good - and I'm not that into movies and TV series, they have some Champions League games but I'm not that into soccer either, they have the Thursday night NFL game but, because of time zones, it's too late here and I wouldn't watch it anyway.

The full text for Germany says:

So up 1€ monthly or 21€ yearly.

I was angered when I got the e-mail this morning.

Probably haven't used Amazon Music for 1.5 years.
You used Amazon Music? I know the Apple Music App isn't very good as well, but still 100times better than Amazon Music and I don't even want to start about the Prime Video App..

The changes take place on 15th Sept.

If you are paying for Prime monthly, now is a good time to lock in a year deal so you get the cheapest price for the next year at least.

If you pay annually, then cancel your current subscription, then subscribe for another year at the current price - again you lock in another year at the cheaper price before the increase!
