Just in case you... don't have your cell phone on you, and are in/on exactly the right room/floor?

#MassMarketAppeal

Yeah, I don't quite get it. It's really just a Bluetooth speaker with voice assistance and Wi-Fi. Not sure what problem it's solving. Maybe I'm missing something?

Alexa is always on , without even to pressing the home button, I wish the same for iOS :(

"Looks like a trash can!"

Haha--would go well with my SVS Subwoofer. But looks like an interesting product--always looking for a different way to listen to music so may give it a try--asked Amazon for an invitation.

"The other day I was talking about forest fires and then this morning I got an email from Amazon about buying Kindle Fires?"

It's begun.

That being said, I'm sure they're doing things right as far as privacy goes so I'm not worried about it. Seems neat, but really, how hard is it to pull your phone from you pocket? Rarely am I in a handless situation and need to use my phone to retrieve information.

I wonder if this plugs into Google's Knowledge Graph for information, too.

If the voice recognition and the speakers are good... I could have use for such a device. I like. Neat work Amazon.

And a smartphone requires you use your hands, activate the smart assistant, attach headphones (if you want good sound quality) etc.

It's not trying to be a smartphone. It's a household appliance, so battery life doesn't matter and it's always on for added convenience. It also has good sound quality from what I can tell. Great idea and a steal at $99.

Is that you Jeff?

The best looking thing in this craptacular ad was the iPhone 6 the teen girl was holding

so much hate....

I think it is pretty damn cool. A decent bluetooth speaker can run you $100, and this is obviously going to be much better. At $100 it is a blind purchase for me personally.

If it can compete with the sound from Logtechs UE Boom then it may warrant its non member price

yeah i will just use it as a bluetooth speaker at $100. All the other fluff is just something extra.

I think this actually sounds useful, but anything using voice tends to be iffy at best. Amazon would have to prove that this works better than all the half-assed Siri and Google Now attempts (which I seriously doubt).

siri, yes...poor. Google now...pretty damn impressive.

Now it is time for Amazon to improve Amazon Prime music and make it more like Spotify and stop removing songs. If they fix this imagine how many more customers will join Amazon and the Prime movies and TV shows need to improve.
