I think you're right. And I always get FL,FR,FC with a stereo signal. So I am not sure how it works anymore (I am not really an audio expert). - EDIT: All right, stupid me and my old eyes. It's FL/FR/SW indeed. 2.1 I suppose, so.

Also I have found this: Amazon Prime Video Apple TV app updated for 5.1 sound in UHD content. It says in the update from 3 days ago:

"After this article was published, Amazon updated the Amazon Prime Video app for 5.1 sound in 4K programming. Amazon claims that the audio improvements for HD and SD streamed content are coming soon."

It seems compatible with what I have been experiencing. I get the 5.1 channels with UHD content indeed. "The Exorcist" is 1080p and it has stereo indeed.

Fixing this seems to take forever. Here in Germany the new show "Dietland" is available over amazon Prime a day after it is broadcast in the US. And again the Sound is 5.1 over the Amazon Video-App on my SamsungTV, but just Stereo with the App on the AppleTV 4K. And this is a brand new show. Lot's of other older content (the TV-Show "The Closer" for example) is also still only available in Stereo on the AppleTV 4K.

No it isn't. There is still a lot of content that is 5.1 with Apps on other devices but just Stereo on the AppleTV 4K.
