Picked up the son a cracking Dell i5 laptop with SSD, 8GB RAM, 1080p screen and 4GB AMD graphics... open box with additional 20% discount = £375. 13th birthday next month....

Also grabbed an Echo Dot for £35, and patiently awaiting the imminent release of the Alexa/Sonos integration to be launched....

Would have mailed you a dot for free. Have picked up a bunch as swag at various conferences. Alexa crushes Siri in terms of usability but no way I am having a permanent listening device connected in my home.

Frankly, I'm surprised Amazon didn't give Dots away or deeply, deeply discounted with every Prime Day order.

Just gone and got me an echo. £70 off... and already delivered - it's fantastic!

You should be ashamed Siri - you're rubbish in comparison!
Yeah I got an echo dot and I have to say it's pretty good. My expectations were low based on Siri but Alexa is miles better.
[doublepost=1499830849][/doublepost]They had a lot of discounts in the video store. I picked up 4 movies and 2 TV seasons for £30.

What Apple products???
Exactly I did not see any and had a good look. I had already planned to get a "Harmony Elite" and was hoping it was in the sale and it was at a 50 percent discount. So picked that up and made a good saving.

You're missing out on exactly nothing. These 'sales' are nothing more than a tactic to drive up traffic temporarily, and get a few million more people accidentally signed up for a rolling Prime subscription, and then just hope they don't click the 'Do not continue' button before they get charged.

The deals are for junk that nobody would need, and the stuff you actually want (the big ticket, branded items) aren't discounted. All I'm seeing is discounts on toothbrushes and off-brand Bluetooth speakers.
Disagree with your assessment but I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. I saw lots of TV's and other electronics, they even had alcohol on sale. I bought three items a Logitech harmony Elite, a 128 Gig memory card and a 4K UHD Blue ray. All items I needed and had planned on buying anyway.

I was going to buy a second...... :)

I bought a Seagate 6TB USB 3 drive yesterday. It arrived today with a shipping label on the retail box -- yes, no shipping box. Is that the norm for Amazon? I was pretty appalled and sent it back as USPS clearly was aggressive with it given the condition of the box. Just seems odd. To boot my post carrier literally tossed it onto my front door. I heard it "bang" as it hit the stone landing. SMH.

They are sending me a replacement. I requested it be shipped inside a box. Let's hope they do or it's going back too.

D'oh! I did not see that. Just the Ultimate and the Elite packaged with Alexa devices. Been jonesing for an Elite but not paying full price or even 20%. 50% is the right price. I'm jealous.

It's not uncommon to have stuff shipped in the OEM package, but usually it's marked on the ordering phase.

Yes. But usually those type of "frustration free" items have heartier "intended for shipping" packaging. This was just the standard Seagate retail box-- rather flimsy. It certainly didn't hold up to the USPS.

Did you check the item at all? Or did you just send it back because it wasnt inside another box??

I've ordered drives before and they always came double boxed. The only thing I have ever gotten without a double box is things like a box of paper towels where nothing is going to break. Sounds like you just got some slacker in the warehouse handling your order. I'd be torqued also.

I got 50.00 off a chair I was going to get my wife for Christmas. first time it mason sale that I ever saw. plus 50.00 off a baby monitor for my daughter.
