It’ll be interesting to see how Gfx are handled on Mac Pro.

I remember in the PowerMac days GPU vendors made “custom” versions of their cards for Mac at a steep markup. Often you could find guides for how to get a PC version and hack it (like flash the firmware) and it was magically the same as the Mac version.

Given that newer Apple machines are not usually as consumer repairable, it leaves me wondering if Apple will get the custom GPUs soldered in, or if they will try to go it on their own.

Better to just build a Threadripper hackintosh if going through all the trouble of disassembling an iMac to upgrade it with puny i9-9900.

The point of the video was to show you the Intel i9 was being throttled because of the power supply on the iMac, and still was able to out perform the M1 from Apple. Basically running at the same speed as well.

but... word has it that Apple will create a SoC without a dedicated GPU that is equally or more powerful than Intel+GPU combo...

People doing colour sensitive work. Or indeed anything where a TV isn't a good option even if it has more k's.
Actually a lot of the newest Sony and Samsung “TVs” have a mode optimized for computers and are just monitors in that mode. They support 90-95% P3, 100+ percent sRGB and switchable to HDR for previewing HDR grading.

They are in most senses better than professional monitors were 5-10 years ago for digital tasks, but sometimes not for certain print tasks. Viewing angles and contrast can be better on a dedicated monitor too, but often that doesn’t matter for everyone because they will test their output on a number of devices.

And word has it that we would have flying cars, room temperature fusion, and be living on the Moon, AND the bottom of the sea. Oh, and, real space travel would be a thing too. So, who knows what the future holds. I try to ignore it as much as I can and hope for the best. I'm very often disappointed... It seems that the future isn't very profitable, until it's here. (Who knew)

This wasn't intended to be funny, but I did get a laugh from it. *sigh*
