Delta isn’t better than Alaska, Southwest, and probably several other airlines.I‘m a Delta guy, best US airline, hands down.

Bad TV won’t make a bad airline better ...
Wonder how many routes American and Singapore compete on? A handful?sorry but free apple TV is not enough to sway me from singapore airline, best service + food out of all other airlines i flew.
Bad TV? Either free or 5 bucks a month?Bad TV won’t make a bad airline better ...
I'm with you!Luckily that TV+ ain’t bad at all. 😀
Why would AA pay for a "perk" that brings in absolutely zero additional revenue? Is anyone going suddenly decided to fly AA over United or Delta, just because they can watch The Morning Show? No.Wanna bet? They pay for it as a perk to fly American.
I bet it is just like most other in-flight entertainment that airlines have been moving to over the past few years. A couple of years ago, I was flying multiple times a week. There was always a selection of NBC shows I could watch for free. I suspect Apple is supplying a few episodes of their shows as well... or their customers can watch it for free. I suspect only TV+ subscribers can watch it just like with Apple Music, or AA paying for it with advertisings or something else.
In short, Apple will get paid any way.
They don't need that. Anyone can watch TV+ for free for a month if they have a device to watch it. If someone won’t have a device to watch it, to let them watch for free on AA would be futile since no one will go out to buy a device specially for TV+ anyway.
Maybe you haven’t been at MR long enough?Defending Jacob is an amazing show. Honestly I love a lot of the shows on Apple TV. Haven’t really understood the hate that seems to come from these comments.
for me i'm mainly travelling from usa to europe, so i use the jfk to frankfurt route quite often. i'm sure they also compete in the asian route.Wonder how many routes American and Singapore compete on? A handful?

AA may be the only ones who actually pay for ATV+.Don’t think they give it to AA for free.
I would love to be. But this is 100% dependent on where you live. Delta is normally 50% more expensive and fewer flights from San Diego.I‘m a Delta guy, best US airline, hands down.
You mean like all the other streaming sources out there? There are some great shows on Apple TV+.Irrelevant content for an irrelevant airline. Good pairing.
Seems a bit of an exaggeration. Who watches inflight video from takeoff to landing?2 round trips on American and you'll be out of good stuff to watch.

I think you are making the frequent economist's mistake of assuming that everyone is (a) rational and (b) has all the time in the world. Plenty of people (including me) have not bothered to take up that TV+ (or Apple Music) free month offer because doing so becomes just one more thing that then has deadlines attached to it. I now HAVE TO experiment throughout this month to get value from my free month, to see everything it has to offer. And I have to be sure to cancel at the end of the month.
Much easier to just try an aTV+ show from one of the options available on the in-flight system.
You're also incorrect about assuming "no one will go out to buy a device specially for TV+ anyway".
Plenty of people already have smart TV's on which they could install the Apple TV app if they had a reason to do so. Even people without such a smart TV might have been vaguely considering "should I get an Apple TV box? see if it's useful to me?" and being given a small push to see the value it can offer helps with the purchase decision.
AA is almost certainly paying Apple to offer it as one of their free in-flight entertainment options (screen in the seat back), not just free streaming on a passenger's own device. It ups AA's entertainment options, and gives Apple some new exposure to people who might not otherwise have tried the service. Win win.
Delta is the only airline that still has seat back displays. Also WiFi that actually works.Delta isn’t better than Alaska, Southwest, and probably several other airlines.
