He was inconsistent, but his voice was very good. He sang difficult songs, which is more than Katharine can say. How can you say Katharine has a good voice? Her head voice, upper range, is horrible. Pitchy, weak, and airy. Her lower range is horrible too, as the beginning of her single showed. Pitchy and weak. She has a decent middle range. Her power is mediocre. She is often pitchy. She sings easy songs, with easy chord changes, and easy arrangements. She tries to sing power ballads in the vein of whitney houston, mariah carey, etc. She fails. Her voice isn't big enough for the songs.

Wow, I completely disagree about Katharine. I think her voice is strong where it needs to be, but not overpowering. I don't think she got as far as she did on her voice alone, but it's been good enough to get some positive feedback from the judges. They do comment when she sings a song poorly, but they also commend her when she does well, as she did with Somewhere Over the Rainbow tonight.

I was hoping Taylor would do the same and really declare his victory with the last song, but it just didn't happen.
In fairness to Taylor though, what could he have done with that horrible song they wrote for him? What was it again, something about "aren't you proud of me now"? What the heck?

Katherine is horrible. I didn't even watch tonight because I was so disillusioned with the whole mess. Taylor should win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Katherine did because she's "pretty". This country is too concerned with such things.

I would like to see the finalists required to perform three songs, none of which were done previously. It is not as if there is a shortage from which to choose. It would also eliminate the inevitable comparisons that result between two renditions. My guess would be that Taylor will be declared the winner tonight.

and how!

the problem is, she knows it...

i agree with your earlier post, these two in the final is laaaaaaaame. i only keep watching at this point hoping that simon's head will finally explode out of sheer frustration

My guess is that his head will explode eventually. Things explode when they get to big ;).

Although, personally, I tend to agree with Simon a lot of the time - especially this season. I also agree with Randy a lot. Paula is pretty much good for nothing if you ask me ;). I like when she is high though ;).

Tru dat, berry beery tru...

Anyway, I think Chris will be the most successful of the lot - he will release an album a month after the official winner and it will cream them all. He has a different take on things and different style to either Taylor or Kat so no reason for the American Idol marketing team to hold back his album launch (they tend to focus on the winner for the first little while as all the top 12 are on contracys with the management company for AI)

We really need a true 'rocker' - not the crappy wimp Boo (pun intended) from last season.

Time will tell, and I hope time tells well for Chris

it's terrible... seeing all the old contestants sing really reminds me how bad taylor and kat suck...
well when everyone has been rehearsing for a week they will all sound good. To be honest I think Elliot sounds really bad tonight, I don't get how he was here this long.

i never said they all sounded good

i said they sounded better than the final two

besides, they had weeks to reherse throughout the whole competition, so i have no clue how what you said has any bearing on my comment

was it just me or did Lisa Tucker sound really good tonight? She sounded much better than she did when she was on the show!

Well, no surprises, Taylor got it. He bores me, oh well. Better him than Katharine.

This season of AI actually bored me, and I'm a huge fan of the show. I predicted Taylor to win way back, and I'm not the least bit surprised. Last season seemed so much more suspenseful. It's not that I don't like Taylor, but he's the type of singer who I like one of his songs a lot but everything else sounds exactly the same. I think he'll flop like almost every AI winner and runner-up, with the exception of Kelly Clarkson.

Carrie Underwood was the best tonight imo!

In terms of Kelly, the best winner ever, get her song "Walk Away."
