It wouldn't be the first time that that claim has been made about Idol. ;)

I was as surprised as anyone that it was Chris, since I was pretty convinced that he was going to win it all. And how about Chris' facial expression when Ryan delivered the news? Not a happy camper.

I'm feeling a lot better about Taylor's chances at this point, which is great, because he's the only one that I actually want to win. I suppose I'm going to have to start voting this week.

taylor will probably get most of chris' old fans, so i say taylor, even if he has a horrible week, is almost guaranteed a final two spot

let's look at a taylor final scenario:

taylor vs. elliott:

elliott may have a slight edge on voice, and he can bend notes like a real soul singer, but taylor is more animated and certainly knows how to work a stage and audience...this is not a blindfolded competition so taylor has the live edge, but too live, then simon reprimands him

taylor vs. katherine:

one voice being male and the other female, it's really hard to measure them up on the same terms, as you could taylor vs. elliott, but katherine started off this season with absolutely no stage presence, but she has steadily improved each week but still falls short of entertaining the way taylor can

summation:

taylor was a finished american idol product at the start of the season, but katherine and elliott, both uneasy in front of people, have been playing catch up all season...while taylor is good and has remained consistently good, elliott and katherine have greatly improved from wedding singers to good contestants for american idol

in another two weeks, i am sure taylor will be there but his challenger would have matured enough to hold their own on the stage but they will have to really bring it and have the night of their lives to beat taylor...if taylor has an average night, he will still win...if taylor has an amazing night (and really brings out his voice like he did with "something" and "ghetto" and pleases simon on both numbers, then he will easily beat the other singer

btw...i still want elliott to win and before this week, i thought he had two insurmountable obstacles...chris and taylor...but taylor is still there...now if the unlikely happens next week and taylor gets voted off, then welcome elliott as your next american idol...katherine, while good, surprises me that she even got into the top six

So, apparently Chris has had some offers from some well-known bands.
Probably better for him than winning AI.

I like Taylor, but probably better for his career not to win, so my bet is on Elliot.

either the band fuel, or the band that does the song "fuel"...but a pretty big and established band which would make him a real rockstar vs. the manufactured stars that win on american idol

it's a good future for chris

Well, I don't believe that Kat's performance of "Over the Rainbow" is going to be enough to make up for the other two songs -- so she's going home next week.

Taylor Hicks will be the next American Idol.

Both Randy and Simon weighed in on the local news.... they think the final two will be Taylor and Katherine with Taylor being the one to beat. He may not be the best singer, but he certainly is a better entertainer than either Kat or Elliott.

I must also say Taylor wowed me tonight. He did a great job. Katherine needs to go home now for what she did to Chris last week. Elliott was good, but not good enough. I would love to see Taylor win at this point.

What did she do?
Katherine did not do anything to Chris other than give him a hug as he was walking out.. What did Idol do to Chris? That may be a different story. I do not know who or what to belive. I have friends who have friends who voted for Chris but got Kat's thanks message. Apparantly several thousand people got this. Is this true, or the mass mentality wanting to believe. We may never know. All I know is that unless Chris is a complete moron he will come out of this on top and that is all that matters.

kat had one good performance, one ok one, and one rather bad one

elliott had three ok ones but didn't wow the judges on any one song...but he was totally the best one last week the way the judges ruled

taylor was at his best on all three performances, which were good, and it was his week

the bottom two tonight will be elliott and kat...i would be totally shocked if taylor was in the bottom two and be mortified if he went packing

taylor hicks should be the next american idol

Ok Im watching last nights Idol now and what I've seen, The final 2 will be Katherine and Taylor. Katherine's version of "Over the Rainbow" blew me away in the fact that she started the intro without music. Its not easy to start a song cold like that then pickup the band. I think Taylor is the real deal and will win the whole thing. "You Are So Beautiful" is a great song and he sung it like the original.

For the west coast people, I will limit my commments about tonight to the following:
I demand a recount. The person who I believe finished in second was close enough to third that I feel comfortable claiming it was a conspiracy.

This is a reality show not the Presidency, Do you want the Supreme Court to get involved.

The fact is the right person was voted out tonight.

YES! I want the SCOTUS to weigh in on this. I agree with Chip - this was fixed for the ratings. I think they would have lost a lot of viewers otherwise. I do wish they had released who finished 1 and two, instead of just the number 3.

Oh great, the nation cant' elect a president decidedly - so why should a talent show be any different then.....

Somehow I'm a bit peeved by the most likely #2 candidate having a big smile all over her (er, um, I mean this person's) face while the one going home was saying his (er, um, I mean this other person's) goodbyes. The third candidate seemed to have a more somber, humble expression of concern for the one going home rather than being giddy about still being on the show. :p

I mean, be glad and all that you haven't been voted off yet, but have some decency for the moment at hand. Sheesh.

Still.... sad about tonight's results, but there is still hope for next week....

Thats because the other candidate new he wasn't going home as the race was gonna be tight between the bottom 2.

Ok for everyone thats complaining how many of you called the numbers and voted.:p

My thought EXACTLY. She gave no respect to Elliot and I hope that will cost her some votes next week.

Me, too! I would be disappointed if Taylor didn't win it now, and it may make it my first and last season of Idol I will watch if she wins. She has a good voice, but she doesn't wow or entertain like Taylor does. He makes people feel like they're having fun and he seems like the genuine article to boot! He's pretty much got my vote for next week.

And Elliott... he didn't wow either, but he had heart. You just can't but help liking the guy and hoping that he makes it far in life after this.
