You're assuming "Homeless" means "poor". Not so.

I've worked with several highly-paid consultants who were "homeless". They'd get 6-12 month gigs wherever and have the customer pay for a nice hotel. First class air travel and top-notch restaurants too - all while being "homeless". It's not that difficult.

So does that mean that entire tribes of Bedouins, many of whom are still migratory and nomadic, are also considered "homeless" people? They have no permanent home, but the way of life is a choice for them.

There are also their fellow Bedouins who years ago gave up the nomadic lifestyle. Living in camps or permanent settlements created for them by the Arab governments.

They do. And they do it when they leave Asia. It was front page of the New York Times only a few weeks ago and we are not talking about a $5.99 latte with the works, we are talking about cheap McDonald's dollar coffee. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/15/n...lds-for-the-right-to-sit-and-sit-and-sit.html

So based on your logic all Australians are BOGANS.

I do think you are going to have a extremely eventful life if you start to believe everything you read on the internet.

Hey AdaminOz,

It's me, the Hobo Prep. I frequent These Forums from time to time, and noticed your thread today! If you PM me I would be happy to pass on some more info about what I do, my harem, and my Benefactors. I'm actually in the store right now and could post some photos.

Stay in touch!

..... Also, how did he find a "kind benefactor" to buy him a hugely expensive MBPr? Does London have this culture of generosity and charity to people down and out?...!

a guy who has clients buying him airplane tickets to fly around the world to do design jobs can hardly be called "down and out" so he probably used some of the fees he was paid to buy that MBPr.......and if you think it's hugely expensive, then you probably can't afford his lifestyle :p

The Hobo Prep sounds a lot like a person who is the opposite of a Bedouin, doesn't he? He lives in the busiest part of a busy city, not in the desert, even if he is nomadic.

Turn back the bogans: What Really Happens in Bali exposes Australians at their worst

So based on your logic all Australians are BOGANS.

Why do you need to inject racism against Australians into this by referring to bogans, who by the way, are nothing more than blue collar people partying? It is well known that in Asia, take for example, in places like Korea, people sit in cafes for 5-10 hours on a single coffee. My Korean friend told me this himself. He also told me that $5.00 for a coffee is a lot of money for many Koreans. It would be like almost one hours wages for the cafe workers there so I can understand why they do this. In other parts of Asia it would be worth even more money. You can get a hotel room in downtown Bangkok for $10 or $15, so I can understand.

----------

Again, no, they do not.

In some countries my friend told me (he's from Asia) people sit on one coffee for up to 10 hours, doing their work in a cafe. In Hong Kong, they even do it at McDonalds. Starbucks is considered a luxury venue in these countries and people don't really earn a lot of money. So again, yes, they do, despite your erudite reasoning.

He says it was paid for by "a Kind Benefactor". Are you saying that this was one of the firms he did a design job for? It sounds like a person was being charitable. How charitable are the super wealthy in London? Would they do this kind of thing regularly?

----------

You claim he has sent you messages on reddit. Why not ask him to post a photo? It seems this would be an easy task for someone with a computer by his side 24/7.

It's not a claim. He did message me, and I posted his message here in the thread. He's overseas but that's a good idea. I will ask him to post a photo. But I want to see how it looks. I can't see what it looks like searching on Google. How big is the seminar room? Has anyone been there? How comfortable are the chairs? What is Apple's policy to using the free wifi, or drinking coffee in their store?

Are you the Hobo Prep? Mr Hobo, thank you for your message. What do you do, what about your harem? And who was the Benefactor who purchased your MBPr? What exact model do you use? You are back in London? Please, post a photo of the seminar room and where you are in the store. I'm particularly interested in how you decide where to live at any one time. Where do you sleep? In the Apple Store, during the day? And so what do you do at night?

.....

perhaps you're referring to Baron von Squilly. He's known for giving away a few pallets of apple products every time they make a major update to their laptops. It's sort of a promotional thing for his chain of pawn shops in Poland where he sells slightly out of date apple products at extremely favorable prices.....the giveaway is a promotional thing for the stores, but you have to be careful because some of the laptops have Polish keyboards and you wouldn't want to end up with one of those now would you

It appears that you were actually joking. I don't think it's very funny but I bet you got your kicks out of it all. I received this message from the Hobo on reddit:

I am not a member of Macrumors and do not know this forum at all. I rarely have time to post on forums or Reddit and usually post my thoughts on my blog. Please send me a link to his post and ask him to contact me by message on my blog (Ask the Hobo Prep a Question) or on Twitter. There are many imitators, but I am the original London Vagabond. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I asked him to post a photo of his setup and the location at the Apple Store where he lives.

I will not accede to these requests, for I Value My Privacy Too Much, and the Workers Here Who Make It Possible. I would rather not post any photographs of me, or my bindle stick of possessions, as it is Too Private To Disclose To The World, or even you. Thank you for your interest in my lifestyle, and I wish you well in finding your own way to do this. Unfortunately, I cannot help you because it is hard to survive as it is. I rely on the good deeds and kindness of strangers, my harem, and the firms that hire me from time to time and fly me to Italy, Europe and Asia. To answer your other question: I would prefer to travel by train everywhere in Europe, but flying has its benefits. I am able to live in the airport lounges on the day of my departure and the day of my return. This allows me comforts such as hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, and good Brands of Water, as well as a shower, comfortable chairs and a quiet place to sleep. Flying in F also has its advantages, even though sometimes I am flown in business class. I can use the time on the plane to charge my Macbook Pro, do some work and sleep, and sometimes take a shower. It is during these flights that I am able to make human contact, and sometimes even friends, and I have made friends with a hostess who lives near St Pancras, and so will sometimes spend time on her couch, or in her bed, if her husband is away. I would not count her in my harem, as she is someone too busy to understand my lifestyle and too irregular a contact. I hope these answers have been helpful and I wish you well.

I think it is time I said this, but I'm fairly certain that the Apple Hobo, the London Vagabond, is a troll. There are no pictures, no evidence to suggest he is an actual Hobo, apart from what is posted on Reddit.

From Wikipedia:
In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

If you decide you want to become an Apple Store Hobo, that is your choice.
Have a nice day. :)

You've proven my point flawlessly: you blindly believe anything people post on the Internet.

I'm willing to bet that your Hobo is happy to offer you some Helpful Advice, but would like to take a Small Payment before Doing So.

The benefactor's von Squilly for sure......but here's where the seminars happen in the regent street store

see, there's the hobo with his back to us

If you decide you want to become an Apple Store Hobo, that is your choice.
Have a nice day. :)

Thanks! I would like to see how it's done. It sounds interesting. A lot of my fellow grads are worried we won't be able to find work in architecture firms at the end of our degrees and so there are always options.

...here's where the seminars happen in...Regent Street.

Thanks! Nice setup! The chairs look comfortable. How many seminars do they run there each day? You could get some good sleep in one of these chairs! But that's obviously not the Hobo! He wears a suit and would have his luggage - I looked it up, it's expensive - and his Macbook Pro.

Also, forgive me for saying it, but is that British "Humour" that you are trying to use? Because it's not really funny at all. I am sorry. I know the history of your country and the problems you've had with wars and the resulting poverty but do you really have to be so mean all the time, pretending and posing and being so sarcastic? I'm just saying I don't think it's funny, that's all. Thank you again.

He hasn't asked me for money but I am sure he has some good advice. Thanks! I might just donate to his tip jar though.

I hope that your dream to work as a Hobo becomes true.

Because, God knows, you probably wouldn't make it in real corporate America.

I'll take a chance, and speak for the OP who, being an Aussie, would not care much about the "real corporate America". (I could be wrong about that :D )

well there's your problem.......as he's said over and over, but something you don't seem to understand.......he works.

All those first class tickets he says he gets, he says companies that hire him buy those. He says clients pay to fly him all over the world to do work for them. And if he actually had a job in advertising that paid him six figures, then he has a lot of professional experience to sell to clients.

But you, if as you say, you can't get a job after you graduate, why would you think there would be all of these clients just waiting to pay you to design projects for them, and not just small local projects, but projects all over the world for which they would happily buy first class tickets to fly you to exotic places to do work for them when you haven't had any work experience or even had an entry level job in the first place.....especially as an architect.

That utter lack of realistic thinking in your posts is why people are laughing and saying you're making this all up, trolling, or utterly naive and gullible.

And seriously, if you can't even google up an image of the seminar room for yourself, what hope is there that you could be an international "hobo" traveling about......first class.....

But maybe you can get a job at an Apple retail store?

Why are you being so aggressive? I didn't ask you to be my mother or give me advice here. I wanted to see the seminar room from the Hobo himself, because I just wonder how he does it. A lot of my friends will end up as architects or with design firms and be able to give me work. Just because I won't be sitting in their offices all day doesn't mean I can't get work from them. I know it will take a few years but I can do this. I think that this would be a lot better than the usual get the job, get married to the wife who becomes fat, sign up for the mortgage and then die - being a fancy hobo sounds pretty good to me. :apple::cool:;)

There's a difference between wacko, like spending your whole life with a woman who gets fat, and wacko, like having a harem, traveling and living out of a suitcase in a top city like London even if it is in an Apple Store.

I rather like the Hobo's type of "wacko". I would call it "most red blooded single men's dream". It's so cool!

That sir is an opinion in the eye of the beholder.

As far as "most red blooded single men's dream" I think that's your dream. Most men don't wanna be a hobo and bumb off other people. Most men was success and life fulfillment and generally that comes with finding a partner/mate.

Look at the homeless in "a top city" like NYC. Those are some of the roughest homeless. Cold winters, over populated and horrible shelter options. I doubt any apple store would let a NYC bum just hang out.

But he's not living with the crack addicts of NYC! He's in London for God's sake. In an APPLE store!!! With a harem! What is your objection to him or me or anyone wanting to have a harem and living free? I don't understand.

This is a funny thread to me. I'll play though, anyway OP if you read all of his post he's actually telling you exactly how he does it fake or real.

1. Work real hard and establish yourself within your career i.e. experience, produce a great service/product and maintain a solid core of clientele'
2. Once your rep/skills is solid and you have confidence in your abilities, go independant quit day job and contract yourself out (freelance).
3. Sell all posessions except your laptop, phone and suitcase (back pack) full neccessities.
4. Have your clients pay you in travel, hotel stay, food, gift cards etc.
5. profit

There you have it, you too can be a successful/ Tax free professional HoBo if you apply yourself and work hard with a gameplan.

So now you are stereotyping all homeless in NYC as crack addicts?? I have no objection to him or you as an individual. My objection is a fantasy lifestyle of "luxury homlessness." The whole concept is ridiculous. My guess is if you were to try something like this you would be back on mommy and daddy's door step in a month.
