These comments have been getting so absurd. "The phone can't be late, it hasn't been announced" "It doesn't exist until it's been officially unveiled (You know, despite the dozens of part leaks)".

Really?

What's absurd is a company is being accused of 'copying' Apple when Apple hasn't released a single device with a sapphire display. It's just as absurd as those Android fans that accuse Apple of 'copying' a larger screen like somehow anything larger then 4" is solely for Android devices.

So they're copying something that doesn't exist?

It exists, we just haven't seen it yet. Do you think Apple just makes up a phone in the week leading up to the announcement?

"Well, we have a keynote planned for next week.. anyone have ideas for the iPhone we're going to release then?"

Corning should invest in Sapphire glass ASAP.

It depends on how many other mass consumer companies want to use sapphire. (Corning already makes small amounts of sapphire for military purposes.)

Gorilla Glass is something like 10% of their revenue, and about 1/5 of that 10% is from Apple. It's likely that Apple will continue to use GG for large screens like iPads for a while, anyway.

Corning seems committed to Gorilla Glass because it can be used in all sorts of applications where large, 3-D formed glass is needed.

For example, Corning is working with companies like BMW to use Gorilla Glass in their windshields.

For all the people whining about Apple using sapphire instead of gorilla glass, you're naive and I hope you learn from this.

Lets make a video telling people why Apple isn't first on this! Then lets make a phone that looks mediocre, but it has sapphire glass because it's so hot right now, and lets put the name sapphire on it too. This will sell so much because it's what people want right now, put into production asap!

Apple isn't the only one looking at Sapphire, so it could be 10% of their revenue.

I thought you would have known better, obviously not. But this or the iPhone 6 are NOT the first mobile phones with sapphire displays.

These have sapphire crystal displays:

As does this one:

Producing sapphire phones on a mass scale is a feat in itself.

This is sad, yet it proves how Apple carries the Tech industry. Apple hasn't made a peep on what they are working on, yet, the industry is making fake "iPhone 6" and trying to "Copy" things they think Apple will produce that DONT EVEN EXIST (yet.) Its sad, but it makes me proud to be an Apple user.:):apple:

Do you actually believe this?

This is how Apple fans minds work.

They think all companies employ people to read made up speculations about a possible Apple product, and then quickly make it before Apple do.

If they make it 1st they are copying Apple, if they make it after, they are copying Apple.

Apple never copies anyone.

They also believe Apple would continue to push their tech forward if there was no competition as Apple don't care what anyone else is doing.

Oh Piggie, all that Apple love.

Thanks for the free psychiatry service.

You go to an Apple-centric website, on a blog post about other companies's work, and you tell that "apple fans" are delusional... are you are the guy that's right in the middle of this!

Thanks! I needed that!

Of course people believe this. This is Mac Rumors, people here would believe that Steve Jobs used to **** gold bricks if Apple put out a press release saying so.

Apple has been working on producing sapphire glass for at least several years, and still has not released a product with it. For Kyocera to put out a product with sapphire glass, it stands to reason that Kyocera has also been working on it for several years, long before either company made an official announcement.

People here actually believe that Apple invented sapphire glass, despite man made sapphire having been invented over 100 years ago and it being used in many watches and barcode scanners at place like grocery stores for years.

Sorry, I don't understand. Who "believes" that?

We all know that Apple doesn't even had made an ounce sapphire glass. It's bought from a company GT Advanced. Apple doesn't do s*** you tell they do.

We all know it's just a kind of glass, and that's been used in watches and everything.

You can read that from various posts here on this site. Never anyone said anything like that at least in this thread!

So...

The question... what's your problem?

The thing is, Apple is Apple because they didn't had the tech, but they made the investment to make Sapphire iPhones, because... well... that's what makes them the best, to innovate.

Otherwise, companies like Kyocera, are just dumb, lazy, penny grabbing companies that will never get ahead of Apple.

They could have made sapphire Kyocera phones! They had the means, they knew how to make that, why they did not put a sapphire phone on the hands of the consumer before they started hearing rumors?

Did they discovered how to make sapphire this year? They claim the opposite.

So... what's their excuse?

Amid Sapphire iPhone 6 Rumors, Kyocera Announces Plans for New Smartphone Wit...

You mean in the same way watches have been using it on a mass scale for years and years? I'll admit this phone glass is different as it seems to be bendable, but sapphire glass itself is not new in any way and certainly not new to mass production.

You're kidding right? What sapphire watch has sold in the millions at an affordable price? Not to mention a smartphone display is much larger than a watch.

That's sad. They acknowledged that they are doing this because Apple was rumored to be doing it.

They look to be further along than just "copying it."

Apple has the display down already the difference here is that Apple has a schedule for when they release and do not give details until that one day while Kyocera can leak as much false or true information that they want to build hype.

"Well, we have a keynote planned for next week.. anyone have ideas for the iPhone we're going to release then?"

Again, it's not official until something gets announced. Of course companies are working on this stuff. So yes it "exists" but it's not an official part of an Apple product at this time. So in that regards it doesn't exist.

That's like saying the PowerBook G5 existed. Yea in the lab, but not in the market.

It doesn't exist outside of Apple so how can it be copied?
