I have made it quite plainly obvious that I do not condone driving with ANY BLOOD/ALCOHOL LEVEL OVER 0.0.

So you believe the current laws are too lenient and all the lunatics out there using Listerine mouthwash before driving should be incarcerated?

So why THE HELL should people be allowed to drive with ANY alcohol in their blood WHATSOEVER?

Because below a certain blood alcohol content, X, there is a negligible (or at least "acceptable") impairment. You think X is 0.0. The law here thinks X is 0.08. I think it's higher.

yeah? explain. It's also impossible to prove that something wasn't to do with being drunk. And then, come on, who the heck would ever believe that, for example, this news story wasn't because the woman was drunk, it's because all she wanted to do was change the CD, looked away, and hit the kerb. Come on, tell me you believe if that's what happened you wouldn't believe it was because she was drunk....

My point was that the percentages shown in the link I provided (Did you look at that?) are even lower because correlation does not equal causation. That's kind of an important concept when looking at numbers like that.

If this woman was drunk and ran into a house(!), it was probably because she was drunk. We can at least agree on that.

I've been told by a police officer that you could only fail a breathalyzer by taking Listerine RIGHT before you took the test.

Do you support a zero tolerance DUI law (meaning that people would be breaking the law if they drove with a blood alcohol content above 0.0)?

FWIW, Japan has a very low BAC level. Basically if you drink one drink you are over the limit.

Also, in Japan you are considered a professional driver and as such will be penalized as a professional.

I forgot what the BAC is for Iceland, but they do have very strict drunk driving laws also. It was amazing the see taxi after taxi streaming out of the 101 area to head towards the suburbs.
