Analyst Shares Crazy List of Apple Prototypes Allegedly Floating Around Asian Supply Chain

"Analyst" and "crazy" in one sentence (headline) ... that pretty much sums it up - good choice of headline.

I agree. The word crazy is always in the same sentence as analyst. Just this time the word crazy is not invisible.

The most glaring thing I take from this (if it's true) is apple keeps working prototypes under wraps while Gougle and Microsuck have a presser about theirs to get attention like a 3 year old.

Wait - What!!??

Ladies and gentlemen! Introducing the iTransformer! The iTransformer can shape-shift from an iPhone to an iPad, then transform to an iWatch, then back into an iPad Mini, morph into an iPod Retina display, then shape-shift into an AppleTV with hand gesture capabilities, then to a iMac with fingerprint sensor, then back into a banana shaped iPhone, then to a touchscreen microwave, then morph into a quadcopter drone, and it will then fly away! Time to buy another!!

:D :D :D :D

Peter Misek has been frequently incorrect with his predictions, but occasionally, one of his reports is accurate. He was one of the first analysts to point towards early iPhone 6 prototypes in a 4.8-inch size

Speaking of incorrect... implying that one of his [apparently few-and-far-between] accurate reports is about a rumored product does not make it accurate until there is an actual product unveiled.

Did I read that right?

An iPhone that folds out into a 4K MacBook Air including built in Apple TV with touch screen and voice commands? Can't wait!!!

I want an iMac that turns into a MBP which then folds into a iPad which then turns into an iPhone which can be folded into an iWatch.

Would apple really get into the TV game?

Perhaps they'll really 'think different' and produce what the world really needs: a 'dumb TV' with a nice screen, a decent sound system, about 10 HDMI sockets, maybe some USB ports for power only, a minimal remote with an input selector and cursor pads and nothing else - not even a tuner.

Then you can proceed to plug in your PVR, your Apple TV, your ChromeCast, your NowTV adapter, your whatever-the-Amazon-thing-is-called, your cable box, your Mac and whatever else you need to actually access all of the dog's breakfast of incompatible and overlapping services that are out there.

Or, you could buy a smart TV who's smart features will be obsolete and unsupported, with no upgrades, within 6 months of buying the TV.

We can but dream...

what? i didnt realize this iPad Mini could fold into an iphone. I'll try it out and report back!

I'm sure it will. Unfolding it afterwards might be a problem, though :D

Be prepared for the Apple stock to fall if they don't announce something similar by September .....

I totally agree that smart TVs are lame, but I also do not think that has any bearing on prices. Outside of when they were first released, there is no difference in price between a smart TV and non-smart TV. If anything, samsung has already figured out the way to keep it from being outdated via evolution kits/one connect.

Obviously nonsense...

But part of me would love apple to be playing with these ideas - and maybe they are. The impression I got from the SJ biography was that they do play around with lots of ideas, and what we see as a final product is a refinement of just one of many many ideas/prototypes.

That's how creativity works!

I know the iTV has been a rumor for a long time. Would apple really get into the TV game? It just seems like they would charge such a ridiculous price that sales would be few and far between. If a 65" 4K tv goes for $4,000, apple would want $6-7. I think taking over the living room via ATV is the smart move. The same thing they have been doing.

Their phones are competitively priced because they're in a similar market. Macs have the premium because Apple has a monopoly on OS X. An iTV, like the iPhone, would have to be competitively priced because there is already a market of similar devices. I'm sure they would be on the upper end of the price spectrum though because of Apple features and quality.

The iPhone that folds out into an iPad Mini is a design that I've thought about for a long time now. I've worked out a lot of the math on how it would work, I just haven't had time to create a high quality 3D mockup (I'm a designer, but my 3D skills aren't that great). I don't believe I've mentioned it here on the forums because I was keeping it to myself in hopes of designing a slick mockup that could get some coverage around the web. Opportunity missed I guess. I'll probably see one posted here within a day now.

That all aside, the idea of an iPhone that folds flat into a very thin iPad Mini would be quite the engineering challenge, but it would also be the perfect answer to the people who want a phablet. The phone would be small enough to be pocket-able and hold easily, but if you suddenly find yourself needing a bigger screen then you're covered.

What's going to be really neat is when these devices eventually connect to 4K displays and present a desktop Mac experience when docked. Unfold your iPhone into an iPad and it becomes a keyboard at the top with a trackpad at the bottom, and the display is wireless over AirPlay. No cords, no mess. Done. Disconnect, back to iPad mode. Fold up, back to iPhone mode. It's essentially the perfect computing device. The display would act as a central hub for connecting external devices to the iPhonePad.
