The buyer's guide is helpful in telling me not to buy right now.

It's unhelpful in not suggesting when approximately the new models will come out....

I am waiting to upgrade my MacPro and hoping June 7 will provide some official explanation of when it should occur.

I've been waiting to buy a Mac Pro since early March, but I'll be surprised is Mac Pro is even mentioned at the WWDC. From what I hear from sources, it will be late Summer or early Fall before Mac Pro is updated. I sure hope they are wrong, but I doubt it.:(

I am saddened to agree here and I would expect this situation to only get worse over the coming years for a variety of reasons. I also hope I am wrong and I can move on to more important things, but there are some fundamental choices that need to be made by me and many other Pro users, and this is making it very difficult. It's pretty easy to get fed up with it after a while, and I am a fan of Apple products, although not of their marketing style.

It gives you an average time between updates, historically. That's a suggestion. For the lack of anything more precise, blame Apple's paranoid secrecy regarding products plans.

Not the least of which is that Apple's CEO just made a car analogy about computing products in which he referred to PCs as "trucks."

Don't know about the computer upgrades, but iTunes on the cloud is coming for sure.

Beta for now, will have a basic (free) tier and an expanded tier as part of mobile me.

Need to revise my predictions, as they clearly didn't come true yet!

iTunes.com along with improvements to mobile me and the new, affordable Apple TV to be announced in the september 2010 media event! :D

16:9 screen, WWAN would be nice...

Now that would look weird....I think you're thinking MacBook Pro here.

I'm currently waiting on the Mac Pro as well, my old Quad G5 is dying (coolant leak causing it to go Batman > turbines to speed! < then crash after some random time) and I'm making do with the MacBook Pro. Painful, but doable for now.

If you fix the coolant leak you will have a tool good for another 4 years with all the software debugged and paid for, while you do or do not buy a new MacPro.

I honestly don't care if its mobile, desktop, handheld or sugar cube sized. As long as it can render million of polygons, allow me to retouch a .5 gig layered image file, process a feature film, and wiz around a 240 page document while connected to a big screen and nice keyboard - thats fine by me.

Thing is, processing power and form factor is not going to get anywhere near that portable in the next 5 years, so we are still going to be drivin' trucks - or compacts at best.

An note re OP - analyst Shaw Wu should get another job - or new job title at least - Guesser! Some fool paying for that!! Can I have that job?;)

Frisbees with processors

Mac Pro upgrade? Everyone knows Apple doesn't make computers anymore, just Frisbees with processors.

Apple... the new Wham-O.

MAC PrOOoo - ooo -ooo - oo - o - . ......!

I just looked at the Mac pro release cycle. We are now in the in the midst of the longest interval between updates in the history of the product line when looking at data going back as far as 2002(that is g4 times..). I really wonder what's the deal here? I really really need a new machine for my business... If they don't update, AT LEAST they could lower prices on their outdated hardware, offer some better graphics options, add more ram in the basic configuration, ANYTHING to make me feel less like an ass when I can't put off buying anymore somewhere this summer...:apple::mad:

They will NEVER lower the price. I'm now guessing it will be September or October before we finally see an update. I've only been waiting since that BS rumor in March.

Something is askew here that we aren't being told. Just doesn't smell right at this late date.

What's even more amazing to me is that the "geniuses" with inside sources at Apple who give BS rumors like the March 18th release, can't now come up with any info.
It appears the Mac Pro, if it isn't on the back burner, has fallen onto the floor. :)

How do you do that and how much? I'm not sure its worth it at this point, since I'm currently dedicated to Intel only software at work and using it all on my MacBook Pro.

While it will probably come out later than sooner, I also wouldn't be surprised if it is released on a random Tuesday with little fanfare - like last weeks Mac Mini.

Here's to new Mac Pros next Tuesday! :p

It would be nice if you were right, but having been so long I think there will be a little more fanfare. The longer this goes, the better the update will be.

Not necessarily true - but I'd like to think so too.

It all about the iPhone and iPad right now - so I don't think the Mac Pro is even on the radar screen just yet - which is quite sad.

Apple need to selloff the workstation division completely

Apple needs to sell off the workstation division completely to someone who cares about computers and settle into being Wham-O for a few years until much-deserved Willie Wonka bankruptcy.

yes, I fear this to be the case. I think no news by this Tuesday would confirm this. It's quite sad really. Such potential unrealized.

Someone has to know something about what is going on? Something? Anything? God this is frustrating. . . .

I can't imagine Apple would be dropping the Mac pro line anytime soon. For sure it isn't anywhere close to being their bestseller, but I believe the main investment for Apple is the continuing development of OS X and not the hardware configuration they built around that. It is interesting though that most developments in OS X are mostly of interest to the real power users. In general people don't need 64 bit applications that can access huge amounts of ram, don't need apps to be capable of sophisticated multithreading. They are fine with their medium spec'd laptops and yes - at some point their iPads. It wouldn't suprise me if we will see a significant slow down in the development of OS X. All the competition is far more fierce in the mobile arena at this point in time. The only area where non professional users are interested in all the power they can get is hardcore gaming. Not Apples strongest point in the past. But then again, Mac sales have never been stronger, Steam has moved to mac, Apple is the hippest company around and millions of users now own an apple device for the first time and are definitely considering Apple for their next PC.
Still no new Mac Pro though.. anyone mailed Steve about it already?

Don't bother. The answer would be. "Not to worry" or "Just wait".
Just wait? I think that's what we've been doing for MONTHS. :)
