Looking back at all the analyst predictions and rumors regarding the iPhone X, I just have to laugh. Particularly when it comes to FaceID. They portrayed it as “Plan B”, chosen as late as three months ago, rushed to manufacturing, and then “de-tuned” to relieve production bottlenecks.
What a joke.
It’s quite obvious now that Apple worked long and hard to perfect FaceID. It’s brilliantly implemented, and has many, many advantages over TouchID, which was great in its own right.
The password security on my phone is practically invisible now. I no longer have to move my thumb to the sensor when unlocking, or launching a bank app, or sliding a notification. Wet or gloved hands are no longer an issue. Sure it’s not perfect, but it’s really really good.
There is no way in hell that Apple or anyone could have thrown this hardware and software together at the 11th hour.
Between this and the dire predictions of low stock levels, Apple had the last laugh over the analysts this year.
