Bummer. Must have been the week for dropping IPhones. I started my morning off dropping a hand mirror. Made a small crack so instead of 7 years of bad luck I guess I got 7 hours. Later in the day I went to pay for gasoline and was taking my credit card out of my wallet case and the whole shebang slipped out of my hands and hit the pavement and left a screen that looks about as messed up as yours. I have a similar insurance through AT&T with a similar deductible. We got it more for loss or theft. I've never damaged a phone before. I'm just going to get the screen replaced by Apple. I'm upgrading in the Fall, too.

Weird to come here and see someone has ended up in almost the same situation as I have. I'm glad your got yours resolved. I'm running around with my cracked phone until this weekend. I'm using my Apple Watch for calls and texts since dragging my fingers across that screen is not a good feeling right now.

Definitely bad luck. I was still able to use mine since the screen protector stayed on and the glass was cracked underneath. I would've rather have went to Apple, but there's not one near. But it's over now. Haha. I'm being extra careful with this one for sure.

I'm using an iPhone 6 that Apple let me borrow while they fix my screen. Usually it takes only a few hours to get a screen fixed but their calibration machines were all messed up and they said it was an Apple-wide problem. So they are shipping off my iPhone as well as those brought in along with mine yesterday to what they call a Depot. It will be repaired and returned to me. Meanwhile I'm liking the loaner phone. It's almost identical to mine except it's only 16 gigs and mine is 128.
