Why must the android fanboys always invade, they do that in real life too. Android users come in the Apple Store and show off their droids to potential customers, it's really annoying. I just wanna jump one and tatoo a :apple: to their a**.

Wow. People still bother to try and play console games on their 3.5" screen?

Seriously whats next? HALO PORTED TO iPHONE!!!! I wouldn't even think twice about running anything more than a GBA emulator on a netbook, let alone a 3.5-4.3" screen.

You do realize a game boy advance screen is 2.9 inches
So by your logic nobody should ever have played a game boy advance game on a game boy advance...

think before you try and make fun of others

Just like a cluttered desk might be more informative and useful than a neat spartan desk, with a phone, a clock, a calendar, and not much else. I'll take the spartan desk.

Not only does the iPhone home screen look cleaner and simpler, it takes less battery juice to keep things that way. More info means more battery power to keep it all up to date on Android home screens.

If you want an android handset to have the iphone "wall of apps" homescreen look, you can do that. Or you can make the homescreen completely blank. Or populate it with a few widgets. Or you can make it cluttered. Its completely up to the user how he or she wants to customize their device.

what? so a netbook is just big enough for you to play gameboy games and nothing bigger?...visit an optician.

Well considering most PS1 games were something like 320x240 resolution, it would be perfect for playing on a 3.5" screen. Scaling low res games on big screens looks bad.

lol if these emulators are on iPhone instead of android phones, I bet you apple fanboys would totally react the opposite way

I'm 20/20 with corrective contacts, your point?

I don't find comfort in playing games on a small screen when they were designed for big ones.

Megaman, Plants Vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, FF1&2, sure!

Halo, Starcraft, World of Warcraft, COD, MvC2, no thanks.

None of those were on the PSX so what was your original point?

My point was that games designed for big screens are a pain to play on small screens. It can be ported from N64, GC, PS2, I don't care, if it was designed for the big screen it will suck on the small screen.

I don't know how I can make that any clearer.

Ya I am sure your avg iPhone users know how to jb their iPhones
Yeah and I'm sure your average Android user cares about having a PSX emulator on their phone. Seriously go figure out some real deficiencies on the iPhone and come back when you have something solid. This crap is weak.

I was a big fan of psx4iphone on my 3GS and managed to get it working at very nearly full speed (without sound). Certainly playable. I did not find the small screen a put off. Was really impressed actually. Played FF7 fine at least.

Looking forward to the iOS4 jailbreak and the updated version of psx4iphone (in whatever form that might be). I think it will definitely be full speed and will look excellent on the iP4's display.

I did not feel guilty downloading the FF7 ROM as I own all the games in the franchise anyway lol. Also purchased the actual FF1 & FF2 apps and would purchase any more they officially brought out.

My confusion is with your comparisons of PSX games and Halo (XBOX), Starcraft (PC), World of Warcraft (PC)

The PSX wouldn't have even been capable of playing those games and some companies like Nintendo and Sony have successfully ported or released their games for the "big screen" to smaller handhelds (PSX games on PSP, Super Mario 64 and Diddy Kong racing on DS for example) and they are all playable.

PSX games are nowhere near the complexity levels of Halo, Starcraft or WoW and most of the titles should play well in the hand (WipeOut, Ridge Racer, Alundra, Soviet Strike, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Team Racing, FFVII, R-Types, R-Type Delta) for example.

I would guess that there are native iPhone/Android games that are more complex than some PSX games. (N.O.V.A for one)

Android has several emulators available now... does android REALLY have a gaming problem compared to Apple now? You can access thousands of top notch games, much better than the crap that developers are putting on either market. Being able to play FF7 or MGS on an android phone has me giddy. :D

edit: here's a video of someone playing ff7 on his android phone:

Dangit! I'm so selling my iphone and getting an Android (yes, FFVII is one of those games I would buy a system just to play. I kept wishing they'd redo it for PS3 and said I'd buy one if they did. And honestly, if I had known about this before I got my iphone 4, that alone would had me seriously consider switching).

But... I'm already stuck with the iphone for now. I know squaresoft has made FFI and II for the iphone, I really wish they'd make VII.

And yes, I agree this gives Android a huge jump when it comes to games. PSX had a lot of really good games for it (it had a really long run of being the dominant system).

Is there a Dreamcast emulator? If not, no dice.

For that fact, I can play PSX games on my Dreamcast, for the m-***** win

EDIT: Wow, MacRumours censors "f dash ing"? This place is more prude than I thought.

Like mentioned earlier, a PSX emulator has been on iPhone since 2008. I had it before and deleted it because the game speed was slow and the games take up ALOT of memory space.

I still have a NES, SNES, GBA, & Genesis emulator on my iPod touch. Believe me, ROMs are overrated on a touchscreen. The ROMs are rarely at full speed and glitchy. Frame rate is usually worse. Sometimes the audio is not there. Then you have to deal with no tactile feedback. Try doing a run and jump on the flag pole in Super Mario Bros. I have over 1,000+ NES games and never play them. The Sonic games have a great frame rate, but not the same without the feel of buttons. It is basically like the ones in the App Store. Fun for the first few levels and then frustrating with all the run and jump gameplay. The only game that had replay value to me is NBA Jam (SNES) without any audio. The controls aren't perfect, but I only have to deal going left and right.

I suggest just sticking to keeping a PSP and buying Final Fantasy VII through their store. Your true PlayStation Portable right there. FFVII is my fav game of all-time. Spent hours in 1997 playing that game. Getting the official game at least gives me 100% the right presentation.

The only FF game I am excited to see go to iPhone is Final Fantasy Tactics. Loved the PS1 one, but never got to play it on PSP. That is the perfect FF game catered for an iPhone. It comes out on Sept 15th. But PSP is really the best way because it doesn't take up so much space. A game like FFVII is over 1GB alone. Remember, the PS1 version used up THREE CD-ROMs. iPhone games really is only catered for casual gameplay. Like 5-10 min spurts. Angry Birds is like the perfect iPhone gameplay. Easy to pickup, hard to master. Can play it for a few minutes waiting or for hours because the challenge is so addicting.

PSP says hi! The PSP has a 4.3in screen which is the same size as the Droid X and HTC EVO. I haven't played roms on any of those phones yet but I know it would be better then playing on the Iphones 3.5in screen. Lets forget the fact that roms on the Iphone shows black bars on each side of the screen. Which means we are stuck playing games on 2in screen.

They are on iPhones.

Ignorance.

Most of the games are laggy on most of the roms. Have you guys even tried running roms on the Iphone before instead of making stupid comments? The emulators on the iphone can't touch the emulators on Android because the the ones on the Iphone run games slow as hell. Playing Emulators on the Iphone is just for showing off not to really play the games; since the screen is to damn small.

I'm a Droid user, and ex 3GS user. I love my Android phone because it functions as a phone 1st and foremost. I also believe a lot of FUD about Android is spread on these forums about poor battery life, crappy apps, etc.

However in the end the iPhone beats the crap out of Android for gaming. Since I don't use my phone for gaming I don't really care. Android has plenty of fun, simple games available for killing time while waiting for something or someone, but that's the only time I use my phone to play games.

I get asked all the time from friends/family for phone suggestions and most of the time I suggest Android based phones unless the person is already on AT&T. If they say they want to play lots of games on their phone I'll suggest iPhone.

I use to say Iphone beats Android at gaming but now all the great games that are on Iphone are coming to Android or already there. I've been playing Fifa, Backbreaker, and Skies of Glory. These two OS almost do so much of the samething that that it would be hard to choose which phone to get if you actually knew about both Android and IOS instead of made up crap.

Until Words with Friends comes to Android I'll believe the iPhone is superior. That's personally the only game I miss, but since I rarely play games on my phone I don't miss many.

have you heard of WordWise Pro? pretty much the same thing .
