WRONG! Most Android phones are up to speed with the current generation.

Actually I'm right because the Nexus One got all the "current generation" updates WAY before every other phone. It even gets official testing builds. And only about 50% of Android phones are "up to speed with the current generation".

That's because it's the "official" Android phone so it gets the most loving.

Right, but all of its speed increases over its contemporaries (EVO, Droid X, Galaxy S) and iphone 4 is solely due to it running android 2.2. The other 3 android devices I mentioned have been confirmed to get android 2.2, so they should be faster than ip4 as well.

Since when was this discussion over hardware speed. We were referring to having the latest updates to Android.

Oh this is an interesting observation. How long did you spend with your Android device to make this decision? Which Android device? What firmware was it running?
Droid Incredible and I used it long enough to put it down and go back to the iPhone 4.

And the latest update to android is what makes the N1 the fastest smartphone today. Maybe you should scold the poster I replied to who said android is slow first?

Oh please. Apple has always viewed itself as a premium maker. What made apple the company it is today is the ipod and iphone. Not coincidentally the success of those devices has generated interest in apples previously stagnant computer hardware business. Without ipod and iphone, apple's computer OS share would be back at <3% like back in the days. As it stands, its only at ~5% now.

Actually it's more like 10

The problem with Apple is that they can't make enough iPhones. And this is for a single carrier! Imagine Apple selling iPhones on Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint? Apple would need to triple its production volume or put people on a 6 month waiting list.

Again Americans are so ignorant. With the exception of the US and maybe one or two other countries, the iPhone is sold on multiple carriers within the same country. And iPhones are sold in up to 80 countries give or take a few. Not sure about exact numbers.

Once Verizon and Sprint dump CDMA they can have the iPhone. Once Tmobile USA dumps that 1700/2100 3G band they can have the iPhone.

Look at Wind up on Canada. They run that same 1700/2100 3G band and of the 4 Canadian carriers, Wind is the only one not to have the iPhone.

NONONONO!!!

Don't bring up U.S. GSM fail facts!!! We need conspiracies! :)

Did you seriously just suggest VZW and Sprint should just "dump" CDMA? And Tmo should just just dump 1700/2100? Just abandon hundreds of billions of dollars invested and abandon all their customers... for an iphone? And you're saying americans are ignorant???

Every major handset manufacturer can make the same exact handset in CDMA and GSM flavors..... Apple cant figure out how to swap out a GSM radio for a CDMA one like everyone else? Is that what you really believe?

Do you even know why Tmobile USA uses 1700/2100 for 3G in the US? It is not because they wanted to be different. It is the same reason why AT&T uses different 3G bands than the rest of the world as well.
It is because those spetrumes were bought up by other companies. Tmobile USA use 1700/2100 because that was all they could buy up. Sprint, Verizon and AT&T owned the rest of them.

Hell AT&T had to get its banded added to the GSM listed for 3G because it could not get the same one Eurp carriers use.

American company vs American company

Apple vs Motorola

Seems like the newbie of the industry is schooling the old master.

Canada - RiM
Finland - Nokia
Japan - Sanyo, Sony, Toshiba
South Korea - LG, Samsung
Sweden - Ericsson
Taiwan - HTC
USA - Apple (CA), Google (CA), Motorola (IL), Microsoft (WA, founded in NM), Palm (CA)

People can go around and diss Android, but I love that Google is part of my state like Apple and both are Californians. Google is still wet behind the ears when it comes to creating a smooth OS. Competition is always a good thing though. If only Palm and Google merged instead. The three smoothest OSes (iOs, webOS, & Android) come from California .

No matter if Google loses with Android against Apple in the cell phone wars, Google's services will ALWAYS be a part of my daily life. Google's search engine is essential online. Like breathing air in the virtual world. Google Maps and GMail rocks! So diss Android all you want, Apple fanboys. You know Google is just as essential to your online needs than any company out there.

Google Search is nice but without it people go just go back to using Yahoo or now Bing
Google Maps is inaccurate and without people would go right back to Mapquest or now Bing maps
Google Mail is nice but without it people would go right back to using Yahoo Mail or Hotmail

Sorry but Google is a Disposable company. If they disappeared overnight you could easily find replacements that are more then good enough.
