Then you would be trolling because you will never buy a Vaio product AGAIN!

Fixed.

I had a VAIO laptop before moving to the greener pastures of Apple and OSX. It shipped with Vista and I immediately wiped the drive clean and installed Linux on it (for obvious reasons). That was my second VAIO laptop. I also had a couple of VAIO desktops too. Nothing compares to the quality of Mac hardware and software. That's why Apple still dominates profits. People are willing to pay higher prices for quality products.

So you've never tried any other Vendor? Like HP, Samsung, Acer, etc? You just go straight to Apple and think that other Vendors make bad computers?

O.M.G.

I have had Dell, HP, Compaq, and VAIO's for Windows PCs. All junk just like Windows. I gave Windows PC's a chance for close to two decades. They still couldn't get it right.

Haven't even tried Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba, MSI, Asus and others?

You should try an Asus laptop, they have the best build quality of them all and are close to Apple's.

Not all laptops are the same.

Here are some with good build quality as well:

Lenovo: T-series, W-series, or X200-series Thinkpad. The other lines are also okay but those three offer the highest build quality.
Dell: E-series Latitude, preferably E6xxx. E5xxx used to be plastic and somewhat worse than E6xxx in the past, but switched to magnesium alloy in the most recent update and it's quite close now.
HP: Elitebook line.

Please just because you tried some laptops, don't asume they all have bad build quality.

Also the build quality of the Vaio Fs are good. The Vaio E and Vaio C are a different matter altogether. They feel pretty cheap in person.

Different models have different build quality.

That's a bit of a leap, just because he says he disliked the Vaio.

Wasn't this thread about smartphones?

Unfortunately there is a lot of that going on here on Mac Rumors. It amazes me how people come up with some of their negative conclusions about Apple's quality and success. I am still perplexed how some believe in a "Apple tax" or put others down for buying Apple.

Nope, never tried Asus. Could have used that tip a few years ago. Thanks though. ;)

P.S. Of course I would run Linux on it.

Either way that still makes you a troll if you post that there

Apple computers sucked too back then, Windows laptop have come a long way since then. You should try the Series 9 laptops from Samsung or the Lenovos, excellent products. Almost made me buy one instead of a Macbook. Asus is also known by consumers to be excellent.

Windows 7 is amazing, has amazing reviews, you just have to give it a chance. Not saying Linux is bad though.

And there is an Apple tax, you pay for what Steve Jobs came up with and the quality of its products. It might sound like a negative term but there is no nicer way to put it. They are allowed to charge such a premium because it is sorely their choice and I paid it. They are a business and they are free at deciding what price they want to sell their products. As much as I hate the price, I do prefer Macbooks over other laptops so I paid the *tax/premium*. Other brands also have taxes, Samsung products are generally more expensive than its competitors, I call it the Samsung tax. Same for Sony, the stupid P netbooks were stupidly overpriced because it's a Vaio but the Z series are a different story, powerful in a small body but premium priced like Macbooks.

And once again, most of us never bashed Apple, you bashed Android initially and we just argued against that.

Rest assured I would never spend a second of my time there. ;)

I never understood how the pro-Windows folks I have seen in other threads spend so much time here telling us Apple users Apple is crap. I would never waste my time on a Windows forum telling folks there that Windows is horrible.

I have no opinion on that. Back then I was still drinking the Windows Kool Aid.

Being a Linux guy, I prefer OSX due to its *NIX roots. I open a terminal on my Mac and immediately find myself in familiar territory.

All of my friends that had Androids on Verizon and Sprint switched immediately when iPhone became available. The consensus was Android was horrible.

Do you expect that people believes you with things like that?

Yes, absolutely. I have an Android phone right now, and would jump ship to an iPhone in a heartbeat. It may be better than my previous dumbphone, but it's a very poor experience as a smartphone.

Are you going to accuse me of lying now, too?

Well, if almost all you posts where bashing other companies, if you had an avatar representing the hate you have for anything that is not your loved company and you were always making dubios comments showing your ignorance yes, I would not believe you.

And if your only argument is "is crap" without saying why is crap, yes, I would doubt your claim.

Kind of like you argument about the people you see on trains and in bars. But for some reason we were expected to believe you...awesome how things work in your world.

Haters/trolls exists on each forums, Apple or Windows

You still keep saying that Windows sucks and always buggy which is not true at all. The main difference is the amount of malware available for Windows, which is not the fault of Microsoft.

I would believe that if my friends did the same. I strongly believe that you bash Android because it is currently the strongest competition to iOS.

Yes

Really? You don't believe I have an Android phone, or that I'm quite unhappy with it? I'd regret the purchase, except it was free and it is admittedly an upgrade from what I had, but you're going to just come right out and say I'm lying about it entirely?

I can't even post what I'd really like to say to you right now, because I'd get banned...

Ok so don't, doesn't change my opinion

Hmm, maybe it's time to add another name to my ignore list...

Seriously, accusing others of lying about their personal experience is always bad form. If this were in person, you wouldn't even think about it most likely, because a punch in the face isn't an uncommon reaction to being outright accused of lying.

Then you need anger management class... Why does my opinion on you matter so much? You don't even know me. it's just a phone... I'm not calling you a liar about your sex or something.

You're overreacting for just an object.

I handle my anger fine. I'm rightly annoyed that you're accusing me of lying. It has nothing to do with the object itself. Maybe being considered a truthful person is meaningless to you, but I consider a significant insult for someone to accuse me of lying. Doesn't matter how minor of an issue it's about.

If you think you have to punch everyone that calls you an liar then yes you are an angry person. Usually, you would prove me wrong by providing details about your ownership of an android instead of getting offended.

I didn't say I would punch anyone. I commented that people don't usually say that to someone in person, but they'll say just about anything in an online forum (it's a commonly documented phenomenon). I also don't feel any need to prove I own an Android, nor do I expect anyone would believe any "proof" I could offer anyways. What do you really expect me to do to prove it?

This is more of a psychological discussion than technical anyways, and probably needs to end.

I wouldn't worry about it. I was also accused of being angry with my post below. I guess everyone that thinks Android is horrible (reason Apple is more profitable - because people willing to pay more for quality) is a angry person. LOL!! (Funny, not anger)

Wow why so angry? Did an Android phone kill a family member by falling from the sky?

Oh wait, you're angry because it's buggy and fragentated? How the hell does that affect you? Huh?

My two posted links (Best Buy Android promo and US phone carriers unable to keep up with the demand for the best smartphone out there) show evidence why Apple is still more profitable despite Android topping 50% of smartphone sales. Yet the Apple hater's typical response is claiming "FUD."

There is no FUD. iPhone is the best phone out there and that is why it is more profitable than buggy-fragmented Android!

Just going to ignore linux2mac who can't address his contradictions.

No, you don't have to prove to me because it really doesn't matter at the end.

There are many ways to prove it but even if you do, I'll probably end up saying that you find you are not satisfied with your Android because you're comparing a free Android handset to a $600-800 iPhone.

And as you say, I am allowed to assume it is a lie, we are in a internet forum at the end. It is not personal against you.

I'm not supporting linux2mac overall (I haven't read nor have I attempted to verify all of his information), but you can't ignore the fact that you've been free with absurd accusations and personal attacks.

BTW, while the Samsung Galaxy S 4G was free for me, it's hardly the low end of the phones out there, and the iPhone isn't $600-800 if you're comparing the same pricing (the iPhone's subsidized pricing starts at free as well, for the iPhone 3G, which would indeed be superior to this phone). The fact that you feel the need to distort your claims even now makes me truly understand that you have some vendetta against anyone who dares express any negativity about Android, regardless of their personal experience.

Note that I haven't made any broad statements about Android sucking, or any other such negative remarks. I am personally very disappointed, and it would take a lot to get me to purchase another Android phone. That's all I said.

And you're allowed to assume whatever you want. Doesn't make it right, and doesn't mean anyone has to like you.

Same here. I'm still recovering from two years of Android. Example: I press the buttons on my new iPhone like an EOD specialist cutting a wire expecting it to possibly explode. Instead, I am pleasantly surprised every time by its degree of polish.

On a side note, tempers seem to be flaring in the thread. Can we all step back, chillax, and be civil? Afterall, we're not debating peace in the Middle East. This is about smartphones.

This is a great difference with him. And perhaps you can accept that your experience is bad because you need other things but for other people the experience is good as a smartphone.
