According to who? A ten year old without a job?

Five bucks per month to play dozens of decent games with no frill and garbage and it’s not enough for you? What exactly would be a compelling service for you to justify $4.99?
Games from Nintendo, Valve, and Blizzard (pre Activision merger). You know, good games, not the watered down stuff that passes for a game on iOS.

Which... isn't a fair description to me. It suggests that good games aren't possible on iOS, but that's not true. I remember people used to try to develop good games on iOS, but at some point... we just switched to an endless stream of garbage. It was the race to the bottom. $5/month is just a continuation of it. Good games cost more than $5/month.

I do want some more original games on Apple Arcade, but I do enjoy it overall. I hate games with in app purchases.

It isn’t bad value as part of the Apple One subscription, but not worth £/$5 by itself

While I don't agree that it's €4,99 too much, some console level games such as Oceanhorn 2 would really bring added value to the service. Come on, sign on some big developers Apple.

These comments, I’m not really sure what people are expecting. These are, premium mobile games, and there is a lot here. While it would be nice to have a few more larger titles on the service, I personally feel like there is great value here. Premium mobile games don’t sell well, and the bigger the game the more it costs, the more the developers lose. Touch Arcade has lots of premium developers on their forums who express this. People just aren’t willing to pay for games. Why invest millions where’s there’s just not enough interest.

I wish they would create a premium bundle that makes sense cost wise that doesn't include arcade or news. (Basically the family plan but switch out Arcade for fitness)
Family doesn't include news, but it would be nice for some users of the $20 family account to pick and choose 2 of the 3 lower cost items (arcade, TV and fitness). But I think they are really trying to make a case for TV+ and Arcade because the more users the easier it is to get content.

So you know how Apple doesn’t want to pad it’s Apple TV+ library with somebody else’s back catalogue, leaving them somewhat unable to compete with rivals with big back catalogues?

Yet they’re happy to pad Apple Arcade with classics. Why would they accept that approach in one arena but not the other?

Maybe the answer is they‘re actually planning to replicate the approach they’re taking with games (re-releasing classics with some modern updating) with Apple TV, releasing classic films/TV with modern upgrades.

They could colourise black and white movies, get Siri to add voice to silent films (with spatial audio!), and release them all in 60FPS. Cinema will change forever!

I used to subscribe and play on my iPad, but I wasn't using it as much as when I had the iPhone 8 I handed over to my cousin, so I cancelled it. Now, I'm waiting until the 12 mini drops in price and I will resubscribe again with the 50 GB iCloud storage or get the Apple One bundle.

Still $4.99/month to much.
The opposite view is that it allows picky folks like me to try out titles I’d not normally bother with due to cost.

If it’s a toss up between however much I pay with Apple One or the $4.99 to $9.99 or even more many titles charge - or worse - the in game subscriptions, then this wins out hands down to me.

I had a 3 month trail. The only game I could be bothered with for more than 5 minutes was Oceanhorn 2, which was a pretty decent Zelda clone. I tried most of what was available and nothing else really captured me.
