Apple deserves much worse when you consider they evade taxes, enforce inferior industry standards (lighting over headphone jack), false advertising (iMac advertised as 4ghz but it cant run that fast because it overheats), commits planned obsolescence, etc.

Now watch Apple fans disagree for some reason.

I think some of Apple's returns policies are disgraceful, and they can often disregard customer's consumer rights, as have been documented around the world, leading Apple to be forced in some countries to post notices on their website showing the correct rights customers have.

Saying that, this customer needs help. It's completely unacceptable. This video shows a great deal of anger, poor impulse control and antisocial behaviour. It's scary. This customer requires rehabilitation.

He has to pay now 13.000 euro :p

50,000, actually

"Il sera jugé en comparution immédiate mardi 4 octobre. Il doit être présenté vendredi au parquet, qui réclamera son placement en détention provisoire en attendant sa comparution devant le tribunal, a indiqué la procureure de Dijon, Marie-Christine Tarrare, qui estime le préjudice à 50.000 euros."

From what he says he wanted a refund and Apple refused. So bozo decided to take control...

Yes he'd been led to believe Apple had launched a new iPhone but then realised he had been duped and it was just a change of colour. :p

The irony being he owes Apple a significant refund.

When I have problems with Apple refunds, I go to the top and get the money back, politely. Indeed, Apple's refund practices are not always the most beneficial to the consumer, but if you're over the refund return date and in store; talk to the manager politely. On those rare times I've asked to return or exchange an Apple product over the release date I always received a refund or exchange; and I am sure my being calm and polite helped facilitate these refunds / exchanges.

Right, "deserves worse" than essentially vindictive violent vigilante vandalism. Yeah, in a civilized society that's certainly the stuff of comics and movies.

I have experienced poor customer service with returns at Apple. So I can sympathise with his frustration - but this is not the way to resolve the problem.

The best way would be to explore legal avenues (small claims, trading standards etc).

Or he could have simply announced his displeasure in the shop without damaging anything. I have seen others get upset with Apple in store ... never pretty to watch but at least that form of protest is legal.

This customer is acting incredibly poorly. It's not acceptable.
Apple needs to address their return policies. Apple often stonewalls, and in some cases, illegally, and against consumer law. Apple's returns policies aren't customer focused.
