This is such a lame duck release. Few reasons for not buying this cable:
1. It will not support latest iPad Pros.
2. It will most probably not support upcoming iPhones releasing in fall 2019
3. It is restricted to USB 2.0 speeds. So be ready to fill your 512 GB iPhones in 3 hrs.
4. You have to wait for cable testing to see if it is conforming to USB standards when it comes to Power Delivery.

I've been using a USB-C to Lightning cable since the MBP adopted the standard a few years ago. No issues with it. All I'd want is a short 10-12" version. Not sure why the release something practically identical to what's already out there rather than something new that isn't.

The Apple 2M USB-C to Lighting cable is not cheap, but it's super-high quality. There however are other USB-C to lighting cables that may not be MFI, but they do seem to charge quickly with compatible USB-C cables.

So what is wrong with the 6' cable I bought at a well-known office supply store? It is not "Apple-Branded," but it seems pretty sturdy and I saved more than $3..?

The whole Apple cable thing is such ********. Seriously, 3rd party vendors are now "allowed" so sell USB cables? What a wank. I can buy a 10 pack of cables from China with free delivery for $5. Even if 9 of them die I'm still ahead.

Apple could double the price of cables and everyone would freak out, then proceed to keep buying them.

Own a ton of Apple products. It really is shocking how their cables deteriorate so reliably. Anker is trustworthy, and provides a guarantee re: number of bends. Apple needs to take some notes - but they obviously do not care. Just one of the many cuts that have bled my decades of loyalty dry. Hard to believe that they can pass on products with such obvious failure points - Rossman highlights these well. Looking at the design decision they made that has created "Flexgate" was the last straw. I worked in engineering. It is beyond belief that they would allow a cable to be that exposed to failure - really just beyond belief. Apple truly has problems right now.

You can also go and buy 10 low cost Android Phones for the price of 1 iPhone, buying 10 gets you free Delivery!. Even if 9 of them were crap you are still ahead.

Oh, did I mention the cable have Lifetime warranty.

1. Because it is not the same connector?
2. It will probably support iPhone in 2019 because USB-C iPhone nothing but wishful rumours ?
3. As with every lightning cable that is restricting to USB 2.0 speed. Problem with lightning , what's wrong with the cable?
4. You can pretty much assure all USB -C MFi Cable Fulfils the PD Standard. Which is part of the MFi Spec.

Wireless charging is the future.. hard to get excited about this, although I will probably get one to fast charge my iPad Pro.

That just means you never use your phone while it is plugged in. Apple lightening cables are the least reliable cables I have ever used.

I use my iPhone plugged in while charging all the time. I’ve never had an Apple Lightning cable fray like that.

I'm SURE it WILL work with these devices.
Isn't that what the whole MFi Certification is for in the first place!? (Made For iDevice)

Reactions: Breaking Good
They last longer than Apple branded ones. I just can't imagine paying another Apple's lightning that start breaking on the lightning end. I'm glad it comes with free when I buy the iPhone but after a couple months they're like China junk my original iPod Mini 30 pin cable still intact but these I think we're designed to fall apart quicker, gotta make money.

Hmmm, every time I've had an Apple Lightning cable start to show signs of damage I've just taken it into an Apple Store and they've exchanged it for me, no questions, no checks on how old it is etc - so they're hardly making money that way.

A little late to the game on this, no? iPads are already USB-C and In six months Apple is switching iPhones over as well...

Until just a month or so ago, Apple didn't allow "made for iPhone" certified USB-C to Lightning cables. Also, there are many millions of iOS devices that'll keep using Lightning for years.

I wouldn't say that. I've had an Apple lightning cable in my car since I bought it four years ago and it's still holding up just fine.

I've also still got the first lightning cable I ever had from my iPhone 5S, which I still use daily in the office....it does look a little diseased though so on that note, I might give it a clean..... :D

For me, it is other way around. Apple ones have always been reliable for me while Anker is slowly deteriorating despite it has been in my drawer for more than a year unused.

I had the opposite experience. I took one into a store and they refused to exchange, even with an escalation. They said it was accidental damage. It wasn't. If it was, I would have just bought another. It was a poor quality cable that wasn't strong enough to handle the stresses associated with reasonable day to day use. I escalated to Apple support and still I had to mess about for ages.

I did eventually get a new cable. It wasn't about the money. I've wasted far more £19s than I care to admit to but when you spend £700 on a phone, the accessories should be of a suitably high standard.

I don't think that is what causes them to go there. You would have to be holding it strangely to cause stress in that place. Also, I'm not one to use the phone while plugged in and I've seen this myself.

Regardless, I've had no issues with Anker products and if you look at Amazon reviews, they often contact people who give low marks and offer their assistance.

Wake me up when non-white colors are available.

The beauty of the Anker cables is not just their durability, but because having dedicated colors for different functions lets you pull just the cord you need out of your bag instead of a giant jumble of identical white cables. Apple should really pay some attention to adaptors, charging, and cable management, all things which have gone by the wayside in recent years.
