Anker has the worst electronics I’ve ever experienced. Complete garbage and it’s a disgrace that this and other sites promote their products for $$ without specifying the posts are sponsored. Trash company. DO NOT BUY

The power banks are generally ok.

The speakers and bluetooth stuff is utter hot garbage though. Literally trash.

Anker's products are cheap and terrible. Not had a single good experience with one of their products.
That's weird. I've got dozens of Anker products (cables, chargers, and batteries), going back probably close to ten years, and they've all been uniformly terrific. They're my go-to brand for cables and charging (at home or on the go).

Husband and I also do to have products going way back as well and no issues with the older products. I find it's the new items lately that are the issue. I just had to return 2 Anker Nano 3-in-1 Portable iPhone Chargers, 10,000mAh Power Bank battery packs bought from Amazon because they both sucked at holding charges and one got way too hot. Didn't wanna take any chances and sent both back for a refund. I've also had a brand new cable for my iPhone a year ago bad, got a replace and that cable works fine. Cables and chargers I rarely have issues.

I bought 3 Anker powerbanks. The first one one was maybe 7 years ago and the last one this year.
I find them really good: Quite compact, not too heavy, and fast charging is fast.

And I bought maybe a dozen cables. The best I have used. Very solid.

I hope they aren't lowering their quality and this is just a sad exception.

I mean much as some people seem to have a lot of dislike for Anker, some their chargers are the most efficient and least heat producing especially at high wattage. At the mid-range its basically only them and Apple. Important not just for the costs of efficiency but to prevent the bloody 200+ watt chargers from overheating after 30-60 min like most brands.

Opinions on some their products will vary, but facts on efficiency dont lie.

Apple doesn't sell portable BT speakers or mobile battery chargers (anymore) unfortunately. I always hoped they'd do a portable speaker but they haven't.
I just stay completely away from third-party stuff these days. I’ve had too many bad experiences with battery packs and chargers that really messed up my Apple iPhone X and iPad.

Li-ion and Li-po batteries are gonna do what they do when even slightly off spec.

These fires are no joke. Any of those batteries (from ANY company) even look sideways at you that sh*t goes in the fire bucket or battery bag and outdoors ASAP.

Is this site going to rethink of doing business with them ?
Only if Anker rethinks doing business with MR.
Having a website focused on a single brand which focuses on privacy and yet having so many trackers on said website that exact company is trying to do something about is on a similar level as selling „premium“ products just to recall all of them.

At the end of each sponsored article it says something about affiliate partners I think, I don’t open them anymore.
You can’t, unfortunately, expect a company to prominently disclose this in another way.

I’m open to ideas on other brands to purchase cables and chargers from. Anker stuff has always been reliable for me but if the quality is dropping, I’d like to know who I can trust.

Anyone have recommendations?

For cables and chargers: Apple? I mean… that’s the obvious answer. And I know Apple’s cables and chargers are expensive if purchased at the MSRP. But you can find deals on official, genuine Apple cables and chargers throughout the year (if you avoid the always full-price Apple Store, lol).

I’ve recently picked up a ton of discounted (official) Apple cables and chargers. Got a few of woven USB-C to USB-C cables, a few of the new second gen MagSafe chargers, and a few 35-watt dual USB-C chargers.

If you talk about any safety issues (ie-fire) or ANY negative complaints on the various Anker Facebook USER GROUPS, they will ban you and delete your posts. So, yeah, definitely a company to avoid.

More overpriced Chinese low quality junk and if you put the letter “W” in front of Anker what do you get? I only buy battery products / power banks where I know the cell manufacturer and quality of the cells in use before purchase. I do not believe in buying blind and this is exactly why I would never ever purchase “Anker” products.

Your iPhone uses Chinese made batteries, so does Tesla.

Apple cables… These lightning cable and old MagSafe chargers were so fragile, the rubber shield often break and expose the wire inside.

Agreed. The old cables were… I wouldn’t say fragile… but not as robust as some third-party options. But that was the old cables.

New official Apple cables are woven now and are more durable. Even some of the recent non-woven cables are more durable than the much, much older versions of Apple’s cables.

Not mention the yellowing of those white cables. I had so many yellowed, broken lightning cable in the past decade. So does the old MacBook's MegSafe cable.

I haven't had these cables yet, since I haven't bought any new Apple devices so far. I am sure I will get one later, but I don't have any plan now.

I had one like pictured to the right, the brick looking one, it fried the power connector where it wouldn't charge anymore, probably the same thing this article is about. I contacted then and they gave me such a run around I just threw it in a lake and will never buy any of their products ever again. This was probably a year ago.

You… threw it… in a lake?

I mean… none of us can stop you from throwing things in lakes… but… please don’t.

I’m reminded of this area along a walking path. It’s a very nice area… except for the major appliances that are left there because people don’t want to pay to have them recycled. Which, okay, but… instead people just leaving those appliances the by the side of the path (so someone else can come by and recycle it), they actually push it down the hill (making it basically-impossible for anyone to retrieve the appliances).

If you aren’t going to properly dispose of it yourself, could you (at a minimum) not make it impossible for others to properly dispose it for you?

I mean, again, no one here can stop you doing what you did. But… please.

It would've been a simple battery replacement had they designed the batteries to be user replaceable. Now there's a bunch of e-waste because the battery is bad.
