Do you know what would be awesome?

Already been done (though not BLE).

I must be weird....

I keep finding out that I must be different. When I first saw this I thought "it's like my old Tyco slot car set combined with MarioKart!!!!!! Must buy!!! WILL BUY!!! Only $200? I'M IN!! It's a matter of if you want it. There's no purpose. It's for FUN! Apparently some of you don't know what that is. It doesn't cost anymore than a day at a theme park for two. Invite your buddy over, break out the beers and play your new high tech real life video game that relives old times.

iPhone $200-$400. Cell plan $whatever you pay. Car game $200. Feeling like a kid again, priceless.

Like I said, I'm in. definitely.

Looks interesting, but I'd much prefer if there was more control over the cars than just acceleration. I get that slot cars were essentially the same, but at least half the fun there was the obstacle course like track. At least when you could get them to work.

This demo was so lame and out of place. And they had to do it on the floor. Very awkward.

I prefer to buy an R/C car instead...

Seems a tad bit overpriced at $199 for something different.
If it was $99 it would sell more IMO.

Pretty cool and has potential.

I don't know if it will ever beat the charm of the old electric based racing tracks you could build and make custom circuits with...

This is the lamest thing ever.

Apple couldn't find ANY other new tech or toy to feature?

Can't wait to buy a new iPad though. Roll Tide.

it says two additional cars for 69$

does not say 69$ each, and certainaly does not say 79$

Sorry, I meant that there are two additional cars, not that there were two for $69. I've clarified that they are $69 each. Thanks for pointing this out.

Yes, just like the first iPhone it's cool but overpriced; but if they cut the price by a third, they'd probably sell a lot more.

I bought an 8GB on day one for $600. It still works. They gave me $100 back later after they dropped the price. I never had a single complaint. It wasn't subsidized back then. If you want to buy an unlocked phone it'll still cost $600.

Though a car hobbyist, would not spend a dime on this thing, a waste of money and time.

Pretty cool concept but for $200 with only two cars I doubt it will sell well...

At that price as a kid I'd rather have an Xbox 360, PS3 or Nexus 7, which I'd likely use for much longer, not just as a novelty/demoware.

It's a lot cooler than a lot of things that people spend a lot more money on. Of course to each his own, but I can see this being pretty popular.

No different than spending endless hours mastering a video game, except that in one way it will be a little more challenging in that since they are actual cars they'll be a little more unpredictable.

A lot of people keep bringing up "RC Cars" and that you would rather by them.

Please tell me, what kind of RC Cars are you talking about? Ones like this: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...-TEN-SCTE-20-Competition-4WD-Short-Course-Kit that don't even come with a motor, battery or Electronic Speed Control, where you are easily spending around $800 just to go race?

Doesn't seem that expensive anymore if you don't say which RC Cars you're talking about.

Just saying I do race these kind of RC Cars and I have spent over $1,000 easily on all my stuff

I didn't want to say anything negative about this but i can't help it. This is the dumbest thing ever. I doesn't matter if the cars are entirely autonomous, mag lev, with tiny nuclear generators inside. I sincerely hope there is some practical application to their technology outside of these cars. Otherwise what a tremendous waste of human energy.

what's with these comments? What is this, the 1st Gen iPhone launch? I say test out the product and see how it feels first before cracking on the price.

How it feels?? The cars drive themselves, there is nothing to feel unless you are moving them into the closet or something.

Look. People are smart enough to read the description and come to the conclusion that $200 is a lot for remote control cars that only work on a tiny plastic sheet.

Exactly. Also this is just the first version. Think bigger tracks, and those cars look like they go fast enough to do a loop. And how long before a couple of kids with a set each discover they can build a ramp to jump from one track to another? Sign me up for some of those car crashes.

It's a clever blend of video games and something physical. Makes for a very unique video game if you want to look at it from that angle.
