Duff-Man says....the only other suggestion I may have for the Marketplace is to make a sub-forum for all the "non-Mac" stuff and keep the main forum for Apple (or related) stuff. When I start seeing ads for car speakers, sunglasses!, and countless PC boxes and laptops (no offence to anyone that has listed them for sale!) I think it detracts from the whole *purpose* of this board - it's a Mac board......just a thought.....oh yeah!

I second that I think someway we should divide the board that is another good way to do it.

I can completely understand this rule... and agree with it wholeheartedly. I just didn't know - was trying to post someting this morning and kept being told that my account was most likely not verified. It might be a good idea to change the error message to reflect the rule, if possible.

But hey - if I contribute, I can post? I don't see a problem with that. My issue is simple - I have absolutely no desire to post into the community with pointless ramblings just to get my post count up, which puts me into a bad situation. At my rate, it might be a LONG time before I get to 100, because I'm just learning this whole mac thing, and don't have much to say yet. Sure, I reply when I can, but I'm a firm believer of reading before you post, and most of my stupid little questions have been answered already.

As for the seperate threads regarding mac / non-mac items, I'm half with you there. Sunglasses and pc's don't really belong there, i agree... but what if you're looking to trade for something mac related? (ok, I've quickly learned that it most likely ain't gonna happen... but there's always that off chance that Joe User needs a pc for school / work / development / boat anchor, right?) Should trades be set off in a different folder? Wouldn't that limit the exposure to potential buyers / traders who won't look in the non-mac sections because they believe it's filled with junk products no intelligent human would ever want to set their eyes upon?

I don't mean to be a pest... just had an extra $.02 to spare.

I love this idea. I always hated when businesses came in and posted links to their site even though they were promptly deleted. It was just annoying.

Thanks MR!

I think this is a decent idea, although I was a newbie when I sold my BT keyboard and mouse on the forum. It was a successful transaction so I hate to see decent users get limited by the new rule. But honestly, how hard is it going to be to get to 100? A week? Not too hard. :)

I believe this is a fantastic rule. Now if only we could eventually have some rating system this would be great, I know this isn't eBay but, it's a thought.

Thanks to the rule hopefully there will be less scams, thus keeping out Mac Rumors Marketplace friendly and safe :)

A good rule of thumb is that, the higher their cumulative post count, the less likelihood that any good will ever, ever come of them. ;) :D

Seriously, I have been so pleased with the minor purchases I have made on MR from a number of people. :)

Same here, I am very happy with my purchases and I show my thanks in my signature which lists the buyers & sellers that I have delt with. I think it's a great alternative to a feedback system. :)

That's very inventive of you, LimeiBook86!

If you continue to have success, you will eventually reach the 150-character maximum of a signature size. But you can also post in the threads where you made your purchases/sales to give your feedback on the other party, since members might (and are wise to) check the previous Marketplace threads of members they are considering doing business with.

I didn't think of that...damn! ;) haha

That's not a bad idea at all, although I would say having 30 posts would be fine. But whatever, it should cut down on rip offs, spamming and the like. And besides, I am actually passed 100 post now anyway (when did that happen, I though I had around 60  ).
