I don't like this at all. I never really saw much of a problem with the games forum. Maybe if mods would do their job and patrol it once in a while, it wouldn't have any issues.

Your fight fire with fire...the only problem is the mods have those HUGE kick arse flamthrowers, and you have a match book!

Yeah, but the moderators are bound by the terms of the Geneva Convention, which not all members have signed.

I suggested this exact kind of change months ago and got flamed to the depths of hell for it.

As for mods not doing their jobs, Mods do this as volunteer work, they aren't paid for their services, and thus they shouldn't have to babysit.

Also, I was going to mention it, but I saw someone else already did-- looks like the majority of people in favor of this change never even participated in that forum to begin with. That's like trying to participate in a foreign nation's politics. Just because those people agree with the change, it shouldn't be an indicator of the overall reception of it. I think a large number of posters from the forum will be against it.

This isn't a democracy. It's a privately owned forum open to the public, if they wanted people's opinion on matters they would open a vote. The mere fact that they split it into two forums proves my point going way back that the forums needed some kind of control mechanism to keep them clean and keep the console games, and the Mac based games separate so it's easier to view what you really want to find.

I know some of us gamers fed up with the amount of flaming started to add people to our ignore lists.

I also wish the mods had taken proper control over certain users.

Other than that, yea I hope the new place is better. But that's not up to mods, it's up to the community they spawned. We pretty much need a Pokemon DS friend code list :D

Edit: One last thing. It is interesting that I have never seen the people who are saying this is a good idea posting on the gaming forum for either console or Mac games.

I'll grant your wishes. I was fairly active in a few of the console threads and I think this is a great idea, even/especially without the post counts. About 1/3 of my posts here are already in the PolyRegSoc forum so another place where my posts don't count is not that big of a deal and given the inflammatory tone that some invoke when the news about their preferred console is not stellar it's not unlike political party preferences when the debates start to heat up.

I say Bravo to this change and those who worked to put it in place.

The Apple Games forum is for discussions about computer-based games, primarily games for Macintoshes and iPods, as well as discussions and speculation about games for other Apple devices (iPhone, Apple TV, new devices) and games for Windows or other operating systems.

The Console Games forum, which opens today, is for discussions about console-based games and hand-held game devices not made by Apple.

Please help us make both forums the best they can be.
