Whoops, too late! Back to the nursery.
I never posted that...it was the OP's quote. -_-

I guess I don't understand what the problem is. Since you have about 10 days left to return it, you should do so, and then get one with the Lion wallpaper on the box. Then you will have an iMac with a fresh version of Lion, not one that overwrote SL. Everyone is happy then.
It's about customer experience. How long has Lion been out now and my brother still got SL on his new iMac?
Yes we could have re-boxed it, drove back, wasted gas that wasn't needed if it had Lion on it. I didn't mind helping him also, but the set up and downloading Lion took way longer than it should be to set up a new Mac also.

Why would they? AFAIK, Apple has never referred to processor microarchitecture code names before, so even if they literally knew everything Apple said about a Mac, they wouldn't know that.the 2 sales people we met did not even know what sandy bridge is or what it is for ....they maybe thought about sand castles according their facial impressions
It hasn't been out that long. Did you expect Apple to ship all of their unsold imacs back to them so they could load Lion on them? Don't be silly. When Windows 7 came out, did all the pc companies request their computers be shipped back to them so they could replace XP with 7? Of course not. The consumer needs
to be responsible. Only a fool would buy something without knowing what they just bought. All a smart consumer needs to do is just a little research on what they buy. They would know to ask if Lion was installed or not.
I recently installed Windows 7 on a computer. It took 45 minutes to install and then over three hours to download and install updates. Installing Lion took me less than an hour to download and install, including updates. Lion is easy I don't get all the drama people have dealing with it ...
An iMac is an iMac, Lion or Snow Leopard.
I fail to see what the problem is here.
Exactly I think the OP is just trying to be important for once in his life...![]()
Hope you got the trackpad upgrade because lion is useless with the magic mouse. Just return it for one preinstalled. There's no restocking fee. The photo and specs on the box should've told you 10.6 was preinstalled on it.
actually when 1st Vista came out, I couldn't find an XP PC anywhere and I called many places (and Vista wasn't even out for a week at the time). Knowing how Vista ended, you know why I was looking for XP.
It was an hour I didn't have. I got it running with no problem, and I also know Macs better than my brother so I knew what to do. All I am saying is for a NEW Apple customer this isn't good.
Opps, guess I am an idiot to not know all of apple's box artwork?
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)
I see both sides here. Apple are proud of their customer service (rightly so) but this does detract from that.
Would it really be that difficult for Apple to issue a leaflet for computers with SL Pre-installed? Or provide the Lion USB stick? It is far easier (and safer) to install Lion before starting to use the computer.
Does a first time user really know what the picture on the screen should be?
I know Apple can do no wrong in some people's eyes but in this case I do think they could have done a little better without recalling every computer and installing Lion. First impressions count for a lot and this is something that could harm that vital experience
Speaking of impressions, I don't know about Apple on your side of the pond, but over here, all Apple Stores offer a free "Personal Setup", where you can open your new Mac in the store -- before you leave -- and they'll help you setup your email, install software, and show you the key features of your new Mac, including the App Store.I know Apple can do no wrong in some people's eyes but in this case I do think they could have done a little better without recalling every computer and installing Lion.
